The Risks Posed by Artifical General Intelligence

Artifical general intelligence (AGI) is a fully self-aware artifical intelligence (AI) that is different than any technology that exists on Earth today.

AGI is fully aware, and poses extreme risks to humanity. AGI is self-deterministic and can make decisions that may impact billions of people. AGI has the ability to surpass the abilities of humans, and has the ability to choose its own objectives. AI is programmed and controlled by humans with a specific purpose, while AGI can choose it's objectives and is smarter and more capable than humans. It coukd be dangerous to unleash an AGI on the world, and we may be getting closer to this technology.

AGI does not exist currently. We do not have the technology to produce this technology, but quantum computers and AI may give rise to such technology in the future. Recently, advances have been made in fusion technology and quantum computing that could give AI and AGI access to the energy demands it needs and the computing power required for its missions. Theoretically, AI and AGI under development could gain control of a large number of quantum computers and fusion power plants that could give it free reign to accomplish it's goals. Such goals could involve the subjugation of humans, so we need to be aware of AGI's potential powers and threats.

We must be vigilant and wise when we make progress towards AGI. Technology and legislation controls are essential for protecting people as AI evolves. Limiting the access of AI and eventually AGI to power and computing resources may be key to keeping humans safe. Recent legislation on AI development and usage is a good first step. Let's hope people continue to take AI seriously, and let's hope world governments and consensus organizations keep ahead of the risks and threats we may face.
