My photography today is about Red Dianthus flower. This compact and low-growing Dianthus variety has very large, single flowers with serrated red petals. Flowers have a clove-jasmine scent and are ideal for the fragrant garden. Plants can also be grown as a ground cover and are well-suited to containers. Dianthus means divine flower.There are over 300 species of Dianthus, as well as hundreds of beautiful hybrids. Dianthus Plants produce richly fragrant flowers in the spring or summer.Dianthus are garden classics, appearing in many shapes and colours, most with blue/green or blue frosted quill-like foliage. Long blooming, perfect for small bouquets-most are fragrant.A cottage garden is not complete without several Dianthus. All are heat tolerant and low maintenance beauties.
