Hello dear friend Steemit...
On this occasion I Will share some of the beuaty photos of the Baiturrahman Mosque.
At first, the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque only had one dome and one tower. Extra domes and minarets were added in 1935, 1958 and 1982. Today the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque has 7 domes and 8 minarets, including the tallest in Banda Aceh.
The Baiturrahman Grand Mosque was originally designed by a Dutch architect named Gerrit Bruins. The design was later adapted by L.P. Luijks, who also oversaw construction work being carried out by contractor Lie A Sie. The design chosen was a Mughal revival style, characterized by a large dome with spiers. Its unique black dome is constructed from hardwood shingles joined together into tiles.
The interior is decorated with be-relief walls and pillars, marble staircases and floors from China, stained-glass windows from Belgium, ornate wooden doors and bronze chandeliers. The building stones come from the Netherlands. At the time of its completion, the new design of its time was in stark contrast to the typical Acehnese mosques at the time, which resulted in many Acehnese refusing to pray at the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, plus the fact that this mosque was built by Dutch "infidels". But now, the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque has become a mosque of pride for the people of Aceh.
