This is a topic I would like to share from my own experience as an ex-smoker. Thanks to the invitation of @wakeupkitty I will be able to tell you based on the questions the author of the contest asked.

Do you smoke or know someone close to you who is addicted to smoking? Tell us about it.
I was a smoker, I'm not proud of it but I don't hide it either. When I write about it I do it so that those who read me can reflect on my act of stupidity as a life experience. I started smoking when I was about 16 years old, I was studying in a semi-boarding school. I would spend from 7 am to 6 pm in that place.
Many of my classmates smoked, they were older than me, and there were even several of them who were already married and had a lot of life experience, which caught my attention. I was educated in a very disciplined and strict environment, where I didn't have room for much information because my parents didn't allow me to have it.
Do you know why and how people become addicted to cigarette smoking?
I don't know how other people get into this bad habit of smoking, but I started it with my classmates. It started in me the curiosity to know more about the smoking habit that many of my classmates had. First, they would ask me to pass the cigarette to another friend and then another time, to light it for them. I went ahead and then I started smoking, I felt in the same environment as them.
Years had passed, I had graduated, and my smoking habit was still with me. What I never liked was the bad smell that remained on my clothes and my breath.
I spent many years smoking until the inevitable happened and I quit.
Tell us about the negative impacts of smoking on physical and mental health.
The smoking habit continued with me and my tendency to have respiratory problems also started. I went to continue studying in a city far away from my hometown, where the weather was very cold. It was constantly raining and that allowed that due to the cold my nasal secretions were always coming out. Then came the flu, and tonsillitis, and my smoking habit continued despite that.
I was almost halfway through my career when I decided it was time to quit smoking because of all the consequences that this bad habit had triggered. So one day I said to myself "I'm not smoking anymore" and I did. It was not that it was easy but I am a strong character and if I decide something I try by all means to fulfill myself.
A year went by, and two years later, people instead of encouraging me and encouraging me to stay without smoking for so long, told me that I didn't smoke much because I was about to relapse. I didn't understand why they said that and I never found out. I never went back to smoking.
Only the respiratory problems had already nested in my lungs and I continued with my nasal secretions and continuous flu-like processes repeatedly. But since everything has an end, I dedicated myself to taking vitamin C in citric drinks and consuming a lot of magnesium with green vegetables. Today I am more resistant to repeated respiratory problems.

Addictions are not good at all. There is no spiritual or mental peace with the bad habit learned. Only when we are in control of our desires can we be at peace with ourselves and live peacefully.
How can you guide someone to stop smoking and return to their normal life?
People who smoke and I ask them to quit from my own experience do not like me to tell them. Many of them told me that they would quit when they decided to, but years went by and I never saw them quit. Many complained to me that I bothered them when I asked them not to smoke and they reproached me that I did it and for that reason, they considered that I should not ask them not to do it anymore.
I must say that I was never able to influence any of my friends to quit that bad habit. They congratulated me because I gave it up but they asked me to leave them alone. That's what I did, I never asked anyone else to quit. I just told the meetings about my own experience and that was it. I was able to be free again without vicious ties and with fewer respiratory repercussions.
Last year I only went through a single flu process without any major problems. I hope to continue to maintain my magnesium and vitamin C intake. And I am staying healthy.

Hi dear
Greetings 🤗
Hope you are fine. You explained about the topic of the contest well. I liked it. The smoking is very dangerous to health. The presence of nicotine in the smoke make them addicted and another chemical which releases the dopamine which makes feel good them so they addicted to smoking
Best wishes for contest.
Best regards @jannat12

Thank you very much for reading my post, I am flattered. So far you are the only one I read and I understand that you read it. Thanks for that again.
Yes my dear reader, I am a doctor and I understand all that an addict goes through and I know that when we want to quit an addiction we can do it. Not for others but for our own good.

I once heard people saying that those who gave up on smoking are the "worst enemies" of smokers. Perhaps it is true because the one who gave up on smoking showed to be strong. If you haven't a strong personality you don't like to be confronted with someone who can what you can not.
I wonder if you smoked during pregnancy but also if you let visitors smoke in your home.
It was good to read how you gave up on an unhealthy habit.
I hope you can keep taking the vitamins and stay healthy.

I share your idea, my smoking friends don't like it when I ask them not to smoke.
I quit smoking when I was 27 years old. I had my son when I was 39. And I don't allow smoking in my house. It is a discourtesy for anyone to smoke in anyone's home, unless they are invited to do so.
Magnesium citrate is the only vitamin I take, I don't like taking pills. I take vitamin C in foods such as paprika, fruits and others.

So your body was strong and healthy again lomg before your son is born.
I am happy it is found normal these days to not let people smoke in your house. All those fights I had with visitors because I did not want them to. As if I was being rude.

That's why I say that being honest with people and saying what you feel does not bring friends but enmity. I don't care, at this time of life I prefer to have one friend who is honest than to have several people by my side who are false in their way of being.

I totally agree with you. I always said I do not need anyone to make me feel miserable.
I think with us many feel this way.

There are many people who are fine with dishonest people, good for them. I am fine the way I am. I have many on my side who share my ideas.
