Grasshoppers are insects with large compound eyes. They have two pairs of strong and transparent fins. The grasshopper flies with the help of this fan. When sitting, the wings are horizontal and at right angles to the body.
Although these grasshoppers have six legs like other insects, they cannot walk. Their legs are forked and suitable for perching on branches. Their heads are quite large and they can turn their heads at will. The tail of the grasshopper is long and slender. They come in many mixed colors including red, green, yellow, orange. The incomparable variety of colors and beauty of grasshoppers captivates our mind. Depending on the species, grasshoppers can fly up to 25/35 km. Eat flies, ants, mosquitoes, bees and other small insects. They are usually found around ponds, springs and swamps. Because this grasshopper is born in water. Their larvae are aquatic. Grasshopper larvae are known as nymphs. Adult grasshoppers lay eggs in water and hatch into young (nymphs) in water.
The children grow up and come up in the den. According to researchers, there are about 7 thousand species of grasshoppers in our world. We once had more than hundred species of grasshoppers in Bangladesh, but due to unfavorable environment, they are gradually decreasing. Eco-Friendly Small Creatures Grasshoppers and their young help keep our environment healthy by controlling mosquitoes by eating pond insects and mosquito larvae. Adult grasshoppers hunt in flight. Grasshoppers also play a role in suppressing various species of harmful mosquitoes, insects and spiders harmful to crops and public health. Legend has it that the more grasshoppers there are in the area, the better the environment.
A human can see 60 frames per second with normal vision. A grasshopper sees 300 frames in the same place, which is five times the number of humans. A grasshopper can see up to ultraviolet light. Grasshoppers can look forward and backward at the same time. Grasshoppers have existed on our earth since the age of dinosaurs. However, while the life span of Ganga grasshopper is 7 weeks, grasshopper can live up to 6 months.
But these features make the grasshopper an important part of the ecosystem. Their various behavioral and physical characteristics indicate their ability to survive and adapt to their environment. πΏπ
