Hello everyone, good afternoon to you all. Trust your day is going as planned? The bad effects of smoking on our health can't be over emphasized. It so bad that even the makers write on the packet that "smokers are liable to die young"

Do you smoke or know someone close to you who is addicted to smoking? Tell us about him.

Well I don't smoke and have not been close to any smoker. The few things I know about them is that.

Their breath reeks of smoke odour.

They usually have black lips.

They become restless when they haven't smoked for a while.

It's takes alot of time and rehabilitation to get a smoker to quit smoking.

Do you know why and How do people become addicted to cigarettes smoking?

People gets addicted to smoking due to the presence of nicotine, this is a chemical substance which sends pleasurable signal to the brain and as time goes on, the brain gets use to the feeling and the smoker feels irritated whenever he doesn't smoke the substance.

Tell us about the negative impacts of smoking on one's mental and physical health?

Increases risk of having health complications

A smoker is prone to suffering from heart failure, kidney failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) cancer of the lungs and heart. Most of them usually have bad breath and black lips.

Mental complications

A smoker is prone to suffer from severe headaches, memory loss and mental disorder.

How can you guide someone to quit smoking and come back to his normal life?

Inform them about the health benefits of quitting smoking.

Tell them about the health benefits of quitting smoking and how they will feel and live better when they quit smoking.

Rehabilitation

Register the person with a therapist or a rehabilitation center.

Offer practical help

You can do these by removing cigarettes and it's triggers from their environment and also tell them to do exercises that can take their mind off from smoking.

Be patient

Quitting smoking is not easy as it looks. It's a whole lot of process and takes a lot of time, so be patient with the smoker.

Get busy with something

Advice the victim to get busy with something which will help to take their mind off smoking.
