It has become the new norm in the world to do almost nothing without the assistance of an artificial intelligence(AI). It has made life more comfortable and a bit difficult for some. I appreciate @janemorane for bringing up such a beautiful and practical topic to contest on. Join me as we go through this journey together.
I don’t use any AI app on my phone. I don’t even have anything related to AI used by me. This is because I feel just going online on any of the web browsers can solve any problem I have just like any artificial intelligence app. This is also as a result of having to subscribe to keep the app on my phone. And to me, it’s a bit expensive to do that while I have more than two browsers.
Like I mentioned before, I don’t use any AI app. But in terms of increasing my knowledge, it has. I have friends that do some searches for me using their AI apps, and when compared to the answers I got from any web browsers, I think I get more from the app. Artificial intelligence has done more in the angle of increasing one’s intelligence. Anything can be done with AI with just a snap of the fingers. More ways are provided to do a thing with the speed at which AI is moving.
It is as bad as anything. This is the overall disadvantage to me. So many have lost their jobs with the birth of AI. AI can do almost anything in any field of study which makes it almost useless for people to go in search of jobs. AI can take care of multiple things at the same time, of which is a challenge to humans. Division of labour or specialisation is almost seen as nothing when AI can handle all of these simultaneously. Where jobs were done manually, and even a bit modernised, AI has brought in more speed and accuracy to it.
This is not good for humans at all if AI is allowed to take over everything. Hopefully, humans still need to remain in their profession to know what really appeals to their fellow humans and how to organise it. Also, humans can give instructions to these machines or apps, the rate should slow down to create more employment opportunities fo people, while AI are only at the background to contribute to what’s being done.
There are both good and bad sides to artificial intelligence (AI). We must be careful how we make use of it, and not become lazy by leaving everything to AI. One of the reasons I choose not to have the app is because I don’t want to rely on it for everything. I believe I can still work had enough to do what the app can do for me. I want to feel what it is like to do something myself, and get good results independent of it.
But if I think I really need it, I could use someone else’ phone. At the same time, a whole lot could be learned using AI. There should be a balance in its usage. That’s my point.
I’d like to invite my friends @ukpono and @bela90 to participate in this contest.
