June is the copulating season.

A lot of bugs and flies can be seen around doing this job xD
Sometimes I even encounter snails hugging each other (but not this time). This is a mesmerizing sight, but probably nice it looks in the video, simple photo capture does not reveal all the stunning beauty of the hugging snails.

Cropped close-up part of the image above. This image is a summa of three separate captures I stitched-up into a single picture in Photoshop.

Looking at fantastic macro images from professional photographers (I dont even dream of reaching the same results one day), one usually doesn't realize these are synthetic images stitched together from hundred of separate captures! I usually take a lot of takes of the same subject, having in mind an option to process them in this key. Doing that, I shift the focus a little (or try to do so) with every capture - so that resulting image would have in focus a larger area than 1-2 millimeters :) But the harsh truth is -- for this you need a tripod, rails, a flash, well-lit photo studio, you need an absolutely motionless and well-fixed bug that doesn’t even think about crawling somewhere while you’re doing your hundred takes.

(clickable).

But in real conditions - environment is never photo-friendly: location maybe a dark bush, even the slightest wind is shaking the blades of grass and leaves - so that even the flowers dont stay motionless, not speaking about the insects. Do you use to think snails are slow? Nope, they can be really fast and tireless! and then it is absolutely impossible to make the required 100 different takes. Even 10 is an unattainable value. More often I limit myself to 2-3 frames.

That is all for now. In the next post I plan to show some flower macro beauties - dont go too far away.
