Your mothers joint issues are normal. Joints wear out and as early as about 10 years before menopause, this is noticeable in women. The change in hormones also affects joints, skin, hair, gums, intestines, musculature and nervous system. Is there anything you can do about wear and tear? The answer is no or you have to go for artificial joints although magnesium, calcium and zinc as well as vitamins C and D3 will helo. Exercises can also be done (lying down, sitting, standing) to make certain muscles stronger waardoir the joints are relieved. Furthermorehad, heavy work and lots of exercise will also worsen wear and tear. A painkiller can help you do something painless or get a good night's sleep.
I wish your mother all the best.

I already told my mother to stop her calcium supplementation as I was thinking that she could be having much of it already, that her body cannot tolerate extra calcium anymore.
"Crystal-induced arthritis" was her diagnosis by her Rheumatologist and so I am assuming to eliminate that Calcium factor if that was the main culprit.

I hope it works on longer term and the diagnoses is right. Not all bodies follow the same system and we all are not able to take vitamins out of the pills we take.
