Hello everyone i hope you all are good and enjoying your life. toady i am going to share the recipe of another dish that is very delicious and also very famous in our province. as i was promised i will post in steemit every day so this my effort to be active on steemit. from the day i will also participate in the SLC contest. so lets start me recipe. Actually this recipe of Mota chawal is a rice dish from Pakistan's Charsadda region. Its also known as Charsadwali Chawal.
Step 1: Preparing Rice & Mung Beans
- Take one bowl of Mota rice (thick rice grains) and one bowl of mung beans.
- Wash both thoroughly 3-4 times until the water runs clear.
- Soak them in clean water for 10 minutes to soften the grains making them cook evenly.
Step 2: Chopping Vegetables
- Take 2 medium sized tomatoes and 2 onions.
- Wash them properly to remove any dirt or chemicals.
- cut the tomatoes into small cube and slice the onions thinly as shown in the picture below
- These vegetabls will add flavor and texture to the dish.
Step 3: Boiling the Meat
- Take 500g of meat (beef mutton or chicken depending on your preference).
- Wash it thoroughly and add it to a pot with 4-5 cups of water.
- Boil the meat for 30-40 minutes on medium heat until it becomes tender.
- Once boiled separate the bones from the meat and cut it into small bite-sized pieces.
- Keep the meat broth (yakhni) aside as we will use it later for cooking rice.
Step 4: Cooking the Dish
- Heat oil or ghee in a large cooking pot. Add the sliced onions and fry them until golden brown.
- Add the boiled meat and cook for 5-7 minutes stirring occasionally.
- Add spices (masala):
- 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- ½ teaspoon cumin seeds (zeera)
- ½ teaspoon garam masala
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and blend into the mixture.
- Pour in the meat broth (yakhni) and bring it to a boil.
- Add the soaked rice and mung beans mix well and cover the pot.
- Let it cook on medium-low heat for 15-20 minutes until the water is absorbed and the rice is soft.
- Stir gently and let it steam for 5 more minutes on low heat.
Final Step: Enjoy Your Meal!
- Once fully cooked give the rice a final mix and serve hot.
- You can garnish with fresh coriander green chilies or a squeeze of lemon juice for extra flavor.
- Enjoy this delicious Charsadwali Chawal with raita salad or pickles
