When Einstein stole and plagiarized the Theory of Relativity from some poor middle eastern thinker, this was the thinking:
If you cannot tell, whether you are moving or if the earth is moving (relative perspective) then a framework, where all things seem equal to all people and all perspectives must exist.
The easier example is, say you put someone in a room. Could they tell the difference if they were standing on the surface of the earth, or were in a rocket ship accelerating at 1G?
Well, if you were moving, you could tell the difference if you could measure the speed of light and saw its change as it bounced off a moving surface. (red shift and blue shift) But, since we cannot detect this on earth, then the speed of light must be constant for all people at all speeds. Or, the speed of light must be fixed in all relative planes.

I hope i made this at least as clear as mud.
The Michelson-Morley Catastrophe
This whole things started with Michelson-Morley. When they did their infamous test to detect the aether.
(which was barely enough measurements to be called a test, and they found something, but called it nothing)
The test was basically testing movement of the earth, in relationship to the speed of light. They should have saw "this much" difference in light from one direction as from another. (and it would be shown as wave interference patterns) Well, M-M got some interference patterns, but not as much they thought, considering how fast the earth was supposed to be moving through space.
They thought and thought, and decided that their instrument wasn't accurate enough (it was the most accurate of its time) and thus if it was made better, then the measurement would be zero. So, they said, the measurement was zero. Literally, they found something, and called it nothing.
And it was recorded as nothing in all the science books. And the aether was thus disproven! In all the science books. Although this "test" only worked on one of the theories of aether, and not even the most popular ones.
During Einstein's time, there was another researcher who took the M-M like apparatus and took measurements at different elevations and found that he got different readings. He told Einstein about this, and got back that it must have been temperature.
If we are moving, and we can see no change in light…
So, the assumptions that Einstein started with are:
- The speed of light is fixed, and every person sees that speed the same, no matter their motion
- That you couldn't tell if you were moving or that your reference frame was moving
- That gravity (whatever it is) and acceleration were interchangeable.
- There could be no force faster than the speed of light (and thus no spooky action at a distance)
These were his assumptions, and if they were true, the theory of relativity is true.
Unfortunately, every one of these is wrong. (unfortunately if you want to believe in modern science and Einstein)
The speed of light has been changing over time, every time it was measured it moved slightly. That is, until the egg-heads got together and SET the speed of light. (and stopped measuring it)
There have been many tests that show that we can tell when we are moving. There are psychics who can feel it. There are magnetics and precessions of gyroscopes. There have been other interferometers that can tell.
Unfortunately, acceleration is really hard to get pure. We have this atmosphere to deal with. And going through the air induces vibrations. But still, every test has shown that a person can feel the difference. That gravity is not just an acceleration down.
And the piece de resistance, is that a force has been measured faster than the speed of light. In a bench top experiment, they turn on the machine, and an electrical force is measured at the other end, over 2x the speed of light. Which is just not supposed to be possible.
Sadly, we still can't measure the movement of the earth.
And this has given rise to people going back to the Bible, "the earth is fixed upon four pillars…"
and further, used as a reason that the earth is flat.
Modern science holds onto Einstein and M-M like their lives depended on it. Which is strange, because that is not how science is supposed to work. Did you know there were 100s of scientists that didn't believe in "Einstein's" theories and wrote books denouncing it? Shouldn't you have been taught any of the other theories? Or at least the counter-proofs or the disproofs brought by others against it?
No, all we hear is that Einstein is the greatest genius and that theory of relativity is completely proven (though it has never been).
The reality is probably something really strange, like we are on a spaceship. Spaceship Earth. And we do not feel movement because it is a spaceship and has inertial dampners or something.
Or, our 3D world is wrapped up in higher dimensions. So, in our 3D world, there is really no movement relative to anything else, anything in the world. All the movement happens in higher dimensions. And there are ideas that this is how flying saucers function.
Anyway, Einstein's idea of relativity is to marry his cousin
Anyway, we have a lot of unlearning to do, and a lot of science to be sciencing.
It is not all fixed and figured out.
