The mountain top is a very beautiful place to visit, you can view the world from a very different perspective. From the top of the mountain, buildings and other places as well as people, look very small that you could hardly make out which building is which, or which location is which. In some cases, people appear to be even as small as ants.
There are many mountains in the world, on every continent and country as well. Here in Nigeria, there are way too many mountains, especially in the northern part of Nigeria. Looking specifically at the state of Taraba, where I was once opportune to visit, there are many mountains in the state. Let's start with the Mambilla plateau. Research has it that this plateau is elevated up to about 1,600 meters, which is about 5,249 feet above sea level and is therefore said to be the highest plateau in Nigeria. The Mambilla plateau has mountains on it and around it, some of which measure up to 2000 meters high, which is about 6, 562 feet tall. The Gang Peak Chappal Waddi is of a height of 2,419 meters, about 7,936 feet above sea level, is the highest mountain in Nigeria and the highest mountain in West Africa. This plateau Is curvy and is high in some places.

According to research, the South Atlantic Ocean also supplies wind to the plateau. Yearly, the Mambilla plateau is said to record rainfall of about 1,800 millimeters.
In Jalingo, the capital of Taraba state, there are about 5 very prominent mountains there. The first is Kopo mountain which has it elevation of about 485m( 1591 feet). This is the highest mountain in Taraba state. The next is Kuniyeke with an elevation of about 454m(1490 feet) the third is Jalingo. This mountain has an elevation of about 354m( 1161 feet). The fourth is Murkuni mountain with an elevation of 398m(1396feets). The fifth in prominence is Kishor Hill. Its elevation is about 226m(741 feet).
My mountain climbing experience was great, there in Taraba, I got to learn a lot about the mountains and I even had an opportunity to get to the top of a mountain. I took pictures of myself there since this experience wasn't planned for but somehow I ended up doing it all the same. With my slippers on instead of boots, I found myself struggling to get there and almost fell off at some points, but still, I pressed on. The experience also turned out to be an exercise to me, because my joints and muscles were worked up in the process. Though the pain came the following day and lasted for almost a week, I still believe that it was a risk worth taking, so I can have a story like this to share with people who care to go mountain climbing or hiking.
Coming down was a whole new ballgame for me. I because scared thinking I would trip and fall face down from the top of the mountain. I had to employ both my hands and feet to help me get down, and at some points, it felt like a suicide mission knowing fully well that am afraid of heights, but still, I was determined and I successfully got off the mountain without injuries, but with so much to tell about my experience. So I can boldly say it's much fun at the mountain top, but don't be like me, rock your boots when hiking, so you can be more comfortable going up or down.
