This wonderful monkey lives in Myanmar, in Thabarwa Meditation Center.
This center helps lonely elderly and sick people who cannot support themselves. Several thousand people live there, about 300 Buddhist monks and a number of volunteers.
When I arrived there for the first time, I was surprised to see a monkey in a tree. She was tied, but she didn't seem to mind. Buddhist monks constantly approached her, held her in their arms. She was constantly fed, watered and stroked. Everything looked pretty peaceful.
Once I saw her hanging on a harness and could not get up. I felt sorry for her and naturally I decided to help. I went up to the monkey, tried to lift it higher, and then she saw my bag, on which there was a large button and grabbed it with her teeth. Out of surprise, I pulled the bag over myself and we began to fight. How stupid it was))) It ended with the fact that she bit me very hard on the hand and we parted. There was no rabies vaccination there, so I had to observe the monkey for 10 days. But all is well. Now, every time I go there, I definitely bring her something tasty and never take anything away.

The days after the accident were probably nervous.

And they would be sadder if you knew about monkey B virus.

https://www.cdc.gov/herpesbvirus/index.html

"B virus can lead to severe brain damage or death"

"People typically get infected with B virus if they are bitten or scratched by an infected macaque monkey, or have contact with the monkey’s eyes, nose, or mouth"

"Macaque monkeys housed in primate facilities usually become infected with B virus by the time they reach adulthood. However, even when they are infected with B virus, monkeys typically do not have symptoms, or have just mild disease"

Macaques are generally aggressive animals if you compare with langurs, for example. I am very cautious with them. However, I spend time with them if I have a chance to get good photos. :)

Oh, thanks for the new phobia))))
Already 4 years have passed, I hope I will survive.
I usually handle animals carefully, only once did something go wrong...)))

:))) As I understand this virus is about an immediate response. You had no symptoms, you were not sick, so there was no virus.

I was bitten by a hedgehog once :) These things happen to everybody :)

Oh, hedgehogs are so cute, but yes, they can bite)))

I love it! You bring the quality to this community. Thank you for sharing :)
