Hi all đđđ»
With my first post from 2022 I want to share with you all, a selection of photos I took on my iPhone, while I was living in the historic part of the centre of CĂĄdiz city in Spain. This was most of the last year đ 2021.
The narrow streets, historic buildings, the seafront and all that CĂĄdiz has to offer.
This photo is taken along the promenade with a view towards the Cathedral of CĂĄdiz. After they just finished the new road. (Left side of the city)
If you donât know, CĂĄdiz city is rather small in surface area. It is an âislandâ connected by 2 bridges to the mainland and one long land strip made to connect it with San Fernando in the south of the city.
Land area of CĂĄdiz city: 12.10 km2 (4.67 sq mi).
Here a photo from Google maps to show you the city from above:
To give you an idea of what Iâm talking about. The most âpinkishâ colour top left is the historic centre, and area I lived in.
CĂĄdiz is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Western Europe, with archaeological remains dating back to the 12th century BC.
The historic centre has parts left of the old city wall from the 18th century. You can walk over or along. I show you in the next photographs.
For more information about the city see: CĂĄdiz city or CĂĄdiz
Here you see the city walls and archways towards the cities historical centre. âMuralla Puertas de Tierraâ
Photo in the same area as above just looking to the right next to you. âBaluarte de Santa Elena.
If you walk along the boulevard next to the sea, you can basically walk all around the city if you want.
On the other side, top right, we find these views.
âMurallas de San Carlasâ
Also the part where the canons are standing.
If you walk further you find this.
Another view towards the Cathedral from the other side.
If you keep walking south along the seafront you see this⊠the beaches from Cådiz are appearing in the distance.
Next I want to show you some historic buildings in the centre.
The theatre. âGran Teatro Fallaâ
A very thin building in one of very narrow streets.
View towards the town hall.
If you look around while walking, you find the most interesting door handles.
And trees that are âwalkingâ
I leave it with this now and promise I will show you more in a next post⊠where I explore more narrow streets and hidden areas.
