MEANING OF A GOOD SAMARITAN

Hello friends!👋 Have you ever helped someone that was in need of help before? Have you ever given something something freely before?

The words "good Samaritan" comes from a parable in the Holy Bible, precisely in the book of Luke 10:25 - 37. The parable talks about a man who was traveling and then on the way he saw someone that was in need of help and instead of passing by, he stopped to help the person regardless of the person's background.

A good samaritan is someone who is selfless when it comes to the needs of other people. He or she is someone that goes out of their own way to provide support, assistance or help to those in need. A good samaritan is someone that has understanding and compassion towards the less privilege.

A good samaritan is someone that helps people without seeking to be recognized or announced. A good samaritan does not only help people that he or she is acquainted with but also offers help to total strangers.

MY EXPERIENCE

I come from a family where we were taught to be kind and show compassion to people. Growing up, my mother's generosity was inspiring and has affected my sense of kindness.

Anytime and anywhere I find myself in the position to offer helping hands, I do it gladly. Just this morning, I have experienced a moment of compassion. I had brought my lunch from the house to my shop but fate had other plans for me.

A lady approached me immediately I opened my shop and asked if I had any money to spare for her to use and eat. She looked genuinely hungry and I didn't have money so without hesitation I asked if she will have my own food and she agreed. I gave her the food which she ate and was grateful.

It was a simple act but it filled my heart with joy seeing that the woman accepted to eat my food, she showed gratituade and there was a smile on her face afterwards. After doing that, I realized that I had the opportunity to make a positive impact and I am grateful that I could respond to her with compassion.

PERSONAL BENEFITS OF HELPING

Helping people in need can bring different benefits to both the receiver and they give her of the help.

1. I am sure there are days you leave your house thinking that you have problems but when you meet people with the real problems outside you feel a bit relieved. When you find someone that is more needy and you are capable of offering help it gives us a sense of well-being, makes us feel good and increase our level of happiness.

2. Helping people that are in need can give us a sense of direction and meaning in life. It gives us a sense of purpose by helping us to understand our role in the Society.

3. When we offer helping hands to those in need it is of advantage to us offering the help because it will give us a sense of fulfillment which can boost our self-esteem.

In conclusion, helping others is a two-way thing, its benefits both the giver and the receiver. I've come to understand that for us to receive we have to learn to give so let's demonstrate the act of kindness, compassion, selflessness and love towards others. Special thanks to @saintkelvin17.
