Today is 17th of July according to English calendar but for Muslim community there is something special today and it is start of the year and normally people celebrate new year with a lot of devotion but Muslims mostly don't celebrate new year because Islamic new year starts with month of muharram.
Most of the Muslims who have awareness and are pure hearted don't ccelebrate joys of Islamic new year because they think that they should respect this month and its Glory and they should not celebrate this month and New Year.

Muharram is a month who is considered a month of sadness due to history of that month. Let me discuss a brief history about muharram. Basically there was the last profit of Allah who was Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam and the family of Mohammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam and basically the family of daughter of Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam sacrifices their life for religion Islam.
Hazrat Ali was great and his all children and all family members were loyal with Islam so they give their blood for safety of Islam without thinking about their personal choice they prefer the choice of Allah and in this way save the teachings of Islam in true meanings.

People really celebrate this month by memorizing that teachings of Islam and the teachings of that great leaders and their sacrifices that they give for the sake of religion Islam and all the sacrifices are remarkable and will be rememberd by all muslims till the day of judgement and even after that.
