Greetings and welcome to my blog. I hope everything is going well for you. Thanks to @cryptoloover for organising this crucial contest in which we can discuss the Mental Health, one of the major topics that we need to talk about.

What are main reasons of disturbances in mental health?

The majority of mental diseases have several causes. Instead, they have a number of risk alterables as causes. You are more likely to obtain a mental health disorder if you have more risk factors. Mental disease can occasionally come on gradually. Sporadically it doesn't show up until a stressful situation causes it.

These are a few instances among many risk factors and triggers:

  • Genetics: A family history of mental illness is common.

  • Environment: Mental health may be hampered by a demanding lifestyle. The brain is under a lot of stress and is frequently the source of mental health issues when you experience things like poverty or an abusive household.

  • A stressful situation may include losing a loved one or getting into a accident.

  • Traumatising experiences during childhood. Something that happened to you as a child may have an effect later in life even if you are not currently in a stressful environment. In those who experienced abuse or neglect as children, complex PTSD is one mental health issue that is particularly prevalent.

  • Negative ideas: You can become mired in a cycle of despair or anxiety if you are constantly critical of yourself or assume the worst.

  • Unwholesome habits, sch as not eating or sleeping enough. Alcohol & drug abuse can be detrimental to mental health. It may also make recoveriing from mental illness more difficult.

  • Mind chemistry: An imbalance of natural substances in body and brain is a common component of mental illness.

These risk factors influence more than only who will eventually acquire a mental disease. Also, they have an influence on when and how serious their symptoms will be.

How can we realize that our friend is mentally disturbed? What are the signs?

Change in behaviour

  • Not fetching in activities they used to like

  • Distancing themselves from loved ones and fraternizing less customarily than usual

  • Getting more sleep yet being exhausted

  • Apart than not eating as much or eating more than usual, eating in an unusual way

  • Increasing their drug and alcohol consumption

  • Showing diminished inhibitions or poor judgement

Changes in appearance

  • Ignoring personal care and hygiene, such as how frequently they take a bath or change their clothes

  • Often appearing weary or down

  • Weight increase or decrease that is drastic

Changes in mood

  • Struggling to deal with typical stresses or obstacles, or worrying and stressing out more than normal

  • Overreacting to events or more readily become depressed, frustrated, angry, or hostile

  • Being perpetually depressed and hopeless

What they say to you or others changes.

  • I have no value at all.

  • What is the purpose?

  • I wish I could simply stay asleep.

  • I've disappointed folks.

  • I'm not feeling well. (Or voicing other bodily problems, such as recurrent headaches, tiredness, or cramping)

  • Frequently receiving criticism for their appearance, including their weight,

Alterations to what they share online

  • Posting remarks like I loathe myself or I'm terrible at everything.

  • Posting ominous verses, quotes, songs, or videos

  • Using hashtags associated with subjects you perceive as strange or concerning for them

  • Using emoticons that represent sadness, misery, or dangerous objects like knives and weapons.

How can we help our friend to maintain the mental health if he/she is mentally disturbed?

Maintaining the mental health can be diffucult but it's not even impossible here are some ways we can contribute to support a friend who is experiencing mental health problems.

  • We can encourage them to seek professional from a mental health provider, such as a therapist or a psychiatrist. We can help them finding a provider and make an appointment.

  • We should listen actively to our friend without judgment, and try to understand their perspective. We should let them express their emotions and thoughts.

  • We should let our friend know that we are alwayz there for them. We should encourage them to express their emotions & provide our assistance in any way we can.

  • We should motivate our friend to follow a normal sleeping, eating, and exercise schedule. Their mental health may benefit from these pursuits.

  • We should urge our friend to adopt healthy routines like mindfulness, meditation, and other stress-relieving practises.

Have you experienced any such case? Or what do you think about such experience.

I haven't, but I do think that since mental health is just as essential as physical health, we should step out and offer assistance to those who are experiencing this. Mental health sufferers have been present in worrying numbers. We may nevr know the next person's mental state becoz the suicide rate is increasing every year. There are various wayz to determine a person's mental condition, therefore we should always watch for behavioural changes in our loved ones. As I indicated before, there are several ways to do this. Since its effects are quite harmful if ignored.

Hi @princa,

Nice entry you've got here. I agree with you that so many factors can lead to disturbance in mental health. About genetics, sure it can be hereditary. Most times when such cases arises, background check is been looked into to be sure.

Environment can also affect one's mental health. I almost developed this mental disturbance sometime last year. I was attacked by some robbers and the scenario never left me and I was dying inside but no one knew, I had to travel very far to stay away from that environment for a while.
