Is no cash our new chorus in Nigeria?

In the bank - No cash...! Most POS - No cash..! Friends - No cash...! and for me - No cash..! Is this really our new chorus?

The Cashless Transaction policy is good, I like it, but how will you Implement that when the system is not fixed properly?

Why do I need to go to the bank every week to fill out the form for bank dispense Errors?

Why do I need to spend 19 hours standing in a queue in various banks just to collect a little money for feeding and later go home with no cash due to an ATM error?

Those questions above were my thoughts yesterday after spending 19 hours in the bank just to cash out a little money for feeding.

But before I continue with my story, let me share a little of what I did in the morning hours….

I woke up in the morning to see a message from one of my old neighbors Mr.Etido Nse, he requested me to come and check his faulty solar PV that was Installed two years ago by someone in his house.

While troubleshooting the Solar Panel, please pardon the poor zooming camera !

He is already aware that I install solar and also do some maintenance as well. He told me the fault just developed, the mono–crystalline panels were no longer charging the batteries, and in fact, I measured the voltage between the positive and negative terminal with my multi-meter no power was coming from the panels and I measured the continuity of the wire, It wasn't reading. So I had to climb his rooftop to check. Guess what I saw?

Some rats have destroyed the wires, I can only imagine how big such rats are…This discovery took me one hour to trace the fault, but I am glad I was able to fix that.

Everything is working well now !

I put on the Inverter and everything was working now. Of course, he paid me #10,000 (Ten thousand Naira) which is approximately 60 Steem for my services. Since he didn’t have physical cash, he did a bank transfer. The issue now is, how will I withdraw this money? I need cash!

The presidential election is on Saturday, and citizens and noncitizens were encouraged to cash out some money that will aid them in feeding within the weekend as the bank may not function properly or rather not work.

This situation is no longer new to us Nigerians, we have been in this situation for almost one month now. It is very hard to withdraw your money from the bank, if you manage to see any POS agent with money, then you will have to buy It.

I knew the following day which is today my curation day with the SC04 account so I decided to visit the bank yesterday so as to relieve the stress today is my curation day.

This is me moving around to look for where to cash out my money..

Unfortunately, I wasted the whole day in various banks just to cash out a little money – I still didn’t cash out any money. The crowd was much, I had to visit another bank to check if I can still have a chance…guess the result? – All negative!

On my street each day, there is this one business company that is not a bank, they pay people in the queue, so I walked down there to find out what is going on there and I discovered that this company is doing business with POS agents.

So basically, what they are doing is selling some cash to the POS agents and not just ordinary people like me, the POS agents after buying will then sell it to the poor masses and also put their interest.

I learned some centers are collecting almost half of what you want to cash out as their profit…. All because there is cash! Isn’t that a fraud in broad daylight?

Better times ahead !

In my opinion, I think if these POS agents are stopped for the main time, won’t the money go back to the bank, thereby reaching the masses easily and freely? Because right now in so many banks, there is no cash! so where is the money?

At this point, I think CBN(Central Bank of Nigeria) should shut down all POS outlets till further notice in the entire country until if they genuinely want to help the ordinary masses to Improve things a bit.

The money they are printing is gathered by major business owners and sold out to POS agents who punish the poor masses In return.

Nigerians are going through a lot in different states/provinces just to get their cash in the bank

No bank has received a deposit of cash since this cash scarcity started and If money does not circulate back to the bank, It’s just like “breath out” without “breath in”, And as CBN continues in printing and printing, It won’t still be enough, this major business owners and POS agents will continue making work difficult for them and for everybody.

When will our rescue day be? Will international intervention work? - It's just my thought, what do I know?

I better get ready for my curation today, I still have some old food to sustain today...better days ahead !

Good work on fixing the solar for your neighbour.

Could you use armoured cable, or enclose the cables in some conduit plastic piping like MDPE, to keep the rats away?

What are POS agents?

Good work on fixing the solar for your neighbor.

Thank you very much...

Could you use armoured cable, or enclose the cables in some conduit plastic piping like MDPE, to keep the rats away?

I suggested that for him as well, my client said he will buy armoured cable by March so that I can run the wiring from the rooftop to the Inverter section afresh because there is a possibility of rats going there again to destroy the inferior wire that was used by the former solar installer.

For now, he said he will just manage the old wire whilst he sprays some rat-repellent spray in all the affected or vulnerable sections.

What are POS agents?

POS (Point of Sale) Agent is an extension of the services that are offered by financial institutions to enable easy services like funds transfer and withdrawal, airtime sales, bills, and utility payments. It is mostly used in several places where goods and services are sold/rendered like retail shops, offices, shopping malls, refill stations, etc.

So in Nigeria, most people operating that machine don’t even need to own a shop, they just buy it from the banks and they carry out most transactions that are supposed to be done in the bank like the one I listed above. While doing that, they charge people for such transactions.

Interesting to learn about the POS agents, thank you.

You are welcome, Sir.

Congratulations!

Everything you do with solar energy is very impressive, I would like to learn how to do these things my friend.

Thank you very much for your kind words, and sure you can learn it if you want, it's not that hard...

On the other hand, it is very unfair that these people want to keep half of the money of the most vulnerable just because they do not have cash, they are unforgivable acts, I see that there in Nigeria many people do that, they keep half of the money from others, I see it as an abuse and surely our God Jehovah repudiates such acts.

I hope this situation is resolved soon and they can once again have enough money to feed themselves.

Yeah, Most of the POS agents also buy these cash from the bank too. Bankers sell this money to some of these agents.

I strongly believe this will be over soon. Thank you very much for your concern, i appreciate.

Good day Mr Ubong. I'm new to steemit. Can you help mentor me?
