There is a popular proverb in Bangladesh. The proverb is - King fights king Ulukhagra dies.
If it is analyzed, it stands: The rich, powerful and influential people in the society fight and clash with each other, while the lower and middle class people suffer the worst consequences. This has existed since the birth of the world. It has been observed from time to time that the elites in the society are engaged in conflict for their own benefit. On the other hand, the lower class people of that society have to suffer the tragic consequences of this conflict.
The current Russia-Ukraine war reminds me of these things. The people of Ukraine are the victims of the conflicting decisions of the two world leaders, the United States and Russia. Russia's invasion of Ukraine is by no means acceptable. This is certainly reprehensible. But it seems that the United States and the NATO military alliance led by them are primarily responsible for all these misfortunes. Let's take a look at some of NATO's past history.
NATO is made up of a total of 12 countries on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean to resist Warsaw, an alliance of socialist countries in Eastern Europe during the Cold War. This alliance was led by America. But in 1991, when the Soviet Union, the father of the socialist states, collapsed, so did the Warsaw Pact. When Warsaw did not exist, there was no need for a NATO alliance. But after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the United States continued to increase its membership in the NATO alliance. At the time of NATO's formation, the alliance had only 12 member states, but now has 30 member states. It is surprising to hear that many states in Eastern Europe were in a neutral position during the Cold War, but now it is safe to say that neutral states are not found in Eastern Europe. Ukraine has recently started vying for NATO membership. From the other side of the Atlantic, the United States aimed its missiles at Russia's home outside Russia, and Ukraine joined NATO, these two means same. Why would Russia accept such a move of US? So Russia launched this horrific attack in order to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO and the European Union and to disarm Ukraine. As a result, a terrible catastrophe has befallen the lives of ordinary people in Ukraine.
At this stage of the war, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has said he is no longer willing to join NATO or the European Union and is open to open talks with Russia. But Ukraine has already lost a significant amount of its land and water. As a result, no matter where the turn of the war is now, neither America nor Russia has anything to lose here. From the middle, several independent territories of Ukraine fell into their hands, let alone the suffering of the general people.
The United States has subtly tried to persuade Ukraine to join NATO to encircle Russia with its own weapons in order to protect its own interests. If Ukraine wins this war with Russia, America will gain. On the other hand, if Ukraine loses, there is no harm for America. So let's say that one of the main culprits of this war is America across the Atlantic. On the other hand, Russia, realizing the opportunity, is attacking weak Ukraine and defending its own interests. The leading nations of the world are fighting for their own interests and the victims of that conflict are the ordinary middle class people of Ukraine.
But the consequences of this war are not just that the general population in Ukraine is suffering. After this war, we have to think anew about energy, peace, prosperity and food in the world to come. Concerns about fuel have already reached a record high in various European countries. The food crisis is widespread in many parts of the world.
When the upper class people of the society take the suffering of the lower class people to the limitless level to save their own interests, then the upper class people have no choice but to call these people devil.
