Death Penalty (Introduction):
It is stated that the Death Penalty is been authorized by Section 33 of Constitution book of Nigeria. Top crimes which includes murder, rape, kidnapping, incest, robbery, sodomy, homosexuality, blasphemy, adultery, helping the suicide victim legally to be unable to consent, perjury involved in a capital case resulting to wrongful execution, and some military offences such as practice of indigenous beliefs.
Some group of people like the Pregnant women and younger people of 18 might not be sentenced to death, rather if convicted of any of those capital offence, they will rather be sentenced to life imprisonment.
According to the description of the death penalty, I agree with it totally. Any one who has passed the age of 18years should be punished by the crime him or she committed, especially when It come to the capital crimes that involves murder, kidnapping etc. Justice should also be given to the victimized person.
Death penalty might be declared to that person but execution does not take place immediately, it sometimes take time depending on how considerate the judges are to the convint for the time of execution.
Is this type of penalty part of the law in your country? Do you think it should be implemented? |

Yes!..It is prevalent in my country, anyone who indulges in such crime should get a pay back for their actions by stating a death penalty on them. It should be implemented, at least to retain back justice. Although I don't support instant execution, they should be given time, at least to consider if their crime is too critical, whether to be given more years for the execution or not. Although Today, Nigerian Federal law gives that the death penalty are only for treason, homicide and armed robbery cases.
Do you know of any particular case of death penalty in your country or any other country? Can you share it? |

Right when they were arrested, it was stated in the constitutional law where there crime fall in. However they were given the chance to state evidence in defence of themselves.
At the course of assessing their defence, the counsel placed to the accused persons, "Messrs Ajibade Oyedeji"and also "Adedayo Adedeji", mentioned to the court that there was no evidence showing that they held meeting together just before they got to carry out the act. Nice presentation and quite appealing due to the well placed markdown. However, death penalty for me is an ideal punishment to help curb crimes against humanity. It brings relatively caution to the polity as human continue to coexist.
Best of luck, friend...

The death penalty has always been a controversial issue, with some supporting it as a form of justice and deterrence, while others see it as a violation of human rights. It is interesting to learn about the specific conditions under which it is authorized in Nigeria, and the recent case of the six men sentenced to death for murder and armed robbery is a stark reminder of the gravity of these crimes. Regardless of one's position on the issue, it is important to ensure that due process is followed and that innocent people are not wrongfully executed.
