Steemit Engagement Challenge Season5 Week6 : Traveling the world at Christmas

Good day to you everyone, how is everybody this week. We are in another week for engagement challenge, and I am happy to join in this community , my name is Oluwatimileyin and I will be participating in the contest of Traveling the world at Christmas.

1.- Do they celebrate Christmas in your country?

---

Yes, we do celebrate Christmas in my country, I am from Nigeria and also born into a Christian family, so Christmas is definitely to be celebrated in my home, it is a moment of everlasting joy, and we don't wait around on anyone to celebrate it as it is the birth of Jesus Christ.

So on Christmas day which has always come through on December 25, we go to church for praise and worship in the morning, then afterwards we come home to celebrate, this is one of the moment of the year that brings every family member together, long distance uncle's and aunties will come to the home to celebrate with us.

And what also made Christmas interesting to my is because I was born in the next day of Christmas which is December 26.

This has been one of the factor and why Christmas is mostly celebrated by me, I use the opportunity to thank God, and also make some interesting things to remember on.

2.Do you perform any ritual at Christmas or on that special date?

---

Yes there is always a ritual for it, because the birth of Jesus is something to be forever remember and he sacrifice himself for us, clean us of our sins, and the little we can do is find a day to glorify is name.

During the Christmas , we all perform an overnight vigil in his name, with songs of praise and worship, and more prayer for forgiveness.

We also perform ritual in a way that we share Christmas gift around, we extend this gifts to our neighbors, like in my home, we kill ram, and prepare jollof rice with it, and afterwards, we would share it with everyone including our Muslim neighbors.

3. What special food do you prepare for this celebration?

---

The special delicacies we prapare on Christmas is Jollof rice and chicken, and this is fine after we get back from church, then we ladies go into the spirit of raising the occasion and preparing special delicacies for our visitor's.

My Christmas day is always busy, I most times don't have fun as I could spend most of my time in the kitchen, we do receive a lot of guest during Christmas, so in this case, the cooking is always unending as we always want to satisfy our visitor's.

A Christmas is not complete if there's no jollof rice with it, it's the most common delicacies in most house during this period, then sometimes in the afternoon, we might cook other sort of food like Moi-Moi and Akara.

4.- Do you have any special memories regarding Christmas or that special date?

---

My Christmas day is mostly choked up, sometimes I have no Time for pictures because the following day of Christmas is my birthday, so I don't mostly worry about the Christmas memory, and this is mostly because i stayed in the kitchen preparing the delicacy for the date.

The two pictures were taken when we were going to church, the first was when I am on my way going, and the second one was when we are about to commenced the church service.

5.- If you could send a virtual Christmas gift to a Steemit user, who would it be and what would you give them?

---

I have recently saw that @lhorgic also share the same birthday with me, and this something I'm learning new for the first time, and there's no better person I would love to share a Christmas gift with instead.

And the virtual gift I could think of sending him a virtual cake, something to cheer him up as well, he is someone with a great personality and he has a good friendship quality.

Christmas day is a special day all over the world, no matter where you are, you can always experience the Christmas occasion from people around you, it's a great time that beings people from far distance together and enjoy the year all round activity.
