So often in life, we miss the little things, and often they are the ones that we need the most.
It is those hugs from our hubbies, smiles from our children, a sticky kiss on our cheeks from our grandchildren... and the list goes on.
As I sat at my computer early yesterday morning, one of the first posts I read was from @stef1.
What caught my attention was the thumbnail that goes with the post. I first thought it was of Princess Diana, but when I clicked on the post, I could immediately see it was from the group “Wham,” one of my favorites. I was now very curious. Is she going to meet with them?
The answer is no; she was sharing one, if not THE most famous song of theirs, “Last Christmas.” It is also one of my favorites. Christmas Countdown and "Last Christmas"
The family was still sleeping, so I got up from my desk, closed the study door, and played the video that was shared in the post. I then went to my playlist and put the song on repeat, listening to it while I was performing my tasks on Steemit.
When it got to the third time playing, I saw my name mentioned by one of my Steemian friends, @rosselena.
When I clicked on it, a post opened with the heading “🎁🎄 A NOT SO SECRET FRIEND 🎁🎄
Guess what? Santa might not exist on Steemit, but true friends do!
I received 5 STEEM from my friend, as she chose me as her not-so-secret friend.
As I told her, the moment was too big… the song.. the thoughts about Christmas… and now the 5 STEEM. I could not help but start crying. What a beautiful gesture from a Steemian friend.
It is moments like this that we need most in our lives.
How I wish she was just a little bit closer so that I could hug her and show her how much I appreciated the gesture.
The 5 STEEM is part of a chain gift. I had two challenges:
- What will I do with the 5 STEEM?
- Who will I bestow 5 STEEM on, as there are so many on the platform who I would like to give it to?
I had my daughter, my two grandchildren, and their "Elf on a Shelf" visiting me. As they were packing to go back and Elfie was carefully moved with a tongue to his “traveling bottle" I immediately knew that my 5 STEEM was going to go to Elfie.
I bought some sweets and packed them with him. I packed it in such a manner that the two kids wouldn’t be able to get it out of the bottle without touching him. I wish you could have seen their faces. I can just imagine how the two of them sat, staring at Elfie's sweets, while flying back home.
My not so secret friend, I bought Christmas laughter, joy, and memories with my 5 STEEM. Thank you!!!
All that was left was to decide who my 5 STEEM was going to go to.
In the end, I decided to give it to @stef1, a remarkable Steemian who always does good to others and who was also responsible for part of my tears yesterday and for sure a Steemit that deserves it.
It is time to say thank you for the lives she touches in so many ways, in real life and here in Steemit.
Now it is my turn to say;
My, not so secret friend, I am sending you these 5 STEEM so that you can buy a gift there in your country. I hope that you will be able to buy at least one chocolate for yourself, as I know that 5 STEEM in England is nothing. I also hope that you will continue with this chain.
