Today, I am here to be a part of the week 4 contest in the Colombia-Orignal community. The topic of discussion is The dessert of my dreams. So, let's start the discussion without any wastage of time.

What is the dessert of your dreams? Because?


The dessert is actually a sweet food item which is mostly combined with the menu and is eaten at the end of the meal. The main purpose to have a dessert is to change the taste or refresh our mind with the sweet taste of that item. There are different kind of desserts that are popular in the whole world just like the creams, cookies, cakes, pastries, and different sweet drinks.

If I would talk about the dessert that I like the most then it is only one, Jalebi. Yes, Jalebi is the dessert of my dreams and I really like it because of the sweet taste that it gives to the eater. The most important reason behind the section of this sweet food is that it is commonly found in the rural areas of our country Pakistan. Have a look at the picture of Jalebi.

Jalebi - The dessert of my dreams

The urban areas mostly like this kind of desserts because they are specially linked to the villages and countryside. The structure and shape of this food item is also another reason because it is cooked in a random shape and there is a great sweetness which is linked to every bite of Jalebi.


What should a dessert have to be perfect? You can tell us about textures, flavors, temperatures or anything that makes a perfect dessert.


As I have already said that the main and the most important quality of dessert is that it is sweet in taste and fill the minds of the eater with delight. Talking about the delicious taste which lies in the Jalebi then it is the sweet and delicious taste of the crunchy cooked pieces of the Jalebi that are made from the gram flour.

Talking about the perfect temperature of the dessert Jalebi, it is cooked so it is always warm. Many people like Jalebi when it is cool while I am the one who like the Jalebi when it is warm and freshly taken from the frying pot. It's taste is the major reason of the happiness that is linked to the Jalebi.

The texture of the Jalebi is crunchy so sometimes it is hard cooked and even more crunchy. When we put it into our mouth them it is filled with the sweetness that lies inside the every bite of the Jalebi. We have to take it with hand and to be honest I have to taste my hands after taking the sweet because some sweetness is still present in tha hands, hehe.

I am going to discuss some more interesting information about jalebi. The major ingredient of jalebi is the gram flour and the cooking oil which is used to make it crunchy and tasty. Let's talk about the ingredients and the preparation method of Jalebi.

The major ingredients that are used while making Jalebi are below.

  • Gram Flour
  • Sugar
  • Cooking Oil
  • Water

These ingredients are easily available in the market and they are mostky present un our homes so there is no need to search them from different markets.

Preparation Method

The method of preparation of jalebi is very much simple and easy. It is a conventional method that I am going to describe in the form of below points.

  • First of all, we have to mix water in the gram flour and then make a paste of it.
  • Then, we have to warm the cooking oil in the frying port.
  • Then, start making the Jalebi with the random structure by putting the paste inside a clean cloth and exerting pressure on it.
  • After the formation of the Jalebi, the jalebi is out in another pot where the molten Sugar is already present.
  • It takes about 5-10 minutes while the sweetness is filled into the Jalebi.

So, at the end, the Jalebi is prepared and we can enjoy it. Some people also like to enjoy Jalebi with the milk. So, it is also beneficial for the health.

As I have already said that there are different kind of desserts that are liked by me. But the dessert of my dream is Jalebi. If I would have to name the dessert of my dream then the name of my dream dessert is,

I have selected this name because the shape of the Jalebi is just like the rings or random coils or loops that are put on each other and sugar is the main reason behind the sweetness so the name developed, The Sugary Rings.

Yes we have this same dessert here in Tunisia called "zalabia" and it is sold especially in the month of Ramadan, it is very sweet and I think it is prepared in the same way as you have in Pakistan.
