Steemit Engagement Challenge | New Contest: I Take Care of My Planet and You by @temitopef

Hello Steemians. I am very happy to be writing another contest in the ongoing Steemit engagement challenge. The contest is a very interesting one that seek to know if I take care of my planet and my answer to this is, " Yes, I take care of my planet". I will not only say it by ordinary words rather I will show some of the ways I take care of my planet in this contest post today and I will also go practical about how I do it.

I TAKE CARE OF MY PLANET

Our planet is a very precious place for all human being of all races and it's very important to take care of it to avoid disasters that may arise from the improper care for the planet. I have been doing my part to make sure our planet is safe to avoid flood, diseases, earth warming, harmful effect on other creatures (animals) and some of the ways I have been doing this will be listed below.

Water Tank Control: In our house, the water tank that stores water for the entire household lacks float and when it is full, it continue to overflow causing the surrounding to be filled with stagnant water, anytime I realize that the tank is full, I go out to stop the pumping machine even at night, I do this. This will help to stop the breed of mosquitos that causes malaria and also stop our water, the natural resources from wasting.

Disposal of Waste: I also ensure that I dispose every waste from the house as soon as possible so that flies are not invited into the house and wet wastes are taken out to waste disposal base as soon as possible, immediately. This act is one of the ways to make sure we don't develop sicknesses that may cost us some of our possessions like money for treatment.

Enlightenment: I pass the message to my siblings often times the need for them to ensure the house is clean all the time and disposing the waste as soon as possible without leaving them too long near the living area. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, I have tested many people positive for malaria many times and I enlighten them on the proper care of the environment to stop the breed of female anopheles mosquitoes that spreads malaria and stay healthy.

Planting: I am an advocate for planting more trees and leafy plants to improve our planet, earth. I grow some plants that are beneficial to humans and encourage others to do the same.

PRACTICAL CARE FOR MY PLANET

There is a flower that goes by the name Dump cane and its botanical name is Dieffenbachia. Dump cane flower has a lot of benefit for human lives and I choose to plant it in the house, this is a plant that is known to have high capacity to absorb CO2, Increase the Ventilation in the house, medicinal in nature, use for ornaments and many others. It's worth having this type of plant in every houses and I have choose to plant it today. You can see the Dump cane flower that I have gotten to plant below.

Water and drinks bottles are of a great disaster to our planet, they are not entirely burnt and they dominate the landfill sites contributing to environmental degradation. My bottles are always given to people who reuse them for other purposes without disposing the bottles and in the same way, I contribute to the taking care of my planet. One of the water bottles that I have used today will be used to plant my flower.

I moved outside to get good soil that would be used to plant my dump cane. I used a polythene to collect the soil.

My materials for the planting today are ready. I have to cut some parts of the bottle so I got razor and glue to help adjust the bottle.

Then, I cut the bottle and it's almost ready for use now.

I amened the bottle and glued it. I filled the bottle with some soil, placed the dump cane into it and filled up the remaining spaces in the bottle with soil. I have planted the flower and placed it by my window.

I will also make a bigger container for another sets of Dump cane very soon so that I can enjoy the benefits in the house to contribute to taking care of my planet. You can see this beautiful plant in the picture that will be uploaded below.

Conclusion

I am very happy to participate in the contest today and I am proud to be taking care of my plant, it's also demonstrated in my post. I will urge everyone to protect our planet, earth, in every possible way to make sure that everyone that lives in there are safe from all disasters. I humbly submit my entry to @colombiaoriginal.

You are right dear friend, if everyone takes care of the planet, we will be able to live a better life without inhaling toxic odour as a result of air pollution, malaria as a result of water wastage and many other benefit of caring for our planet. Thank you.

Over flowing of our home tank are bad things because it causes malaria. Dengue also causes of this water because Dengue also grow on clean water .
I really appreciate your work to take care of plants at home.

Your post is very interesting, my friend. It shows us that we are all able to offer a great help to our planet by carrying out, from wherever we are, those small actions that protect it. Your comment about the plant that absorbs CO2 and is medicinal is very interesting. Here in eastern Venezuela, I've seen it, but they call it by another name that I don't remember right now. You are right, to enjoy sound health personal hygiene should be practice, by so doing we will eradicate vectors like mosquitoes and prevalence of malaria would reduced. Thanks for reading my article.
