The Diary Game | 30-01-2025 | Changing the Trajectory of My Life

How often do you challenge yourself?
Once in a blue moon? Monthly or weekly?
If yes, then you have to read my diary for today.

As part of the policy at my workplace, every team is expected to make a presentation during the last week of each month. Here, you share:

• the tasks you completed;
• any new insight you gain from the project, and;
• practicable solutions for any challenge you might have encountered.

My favourite part has always been to collate the necessary pieces of information for the monthly report.

As a member of the content team, I take it upon myself to gather data from all our social media channels and websites, then organise them beautifully in a spreadsheet.

But would I present it? Absolutely not!
I usually assign it to one of my colleagues instead.

Nonetheless, the time of reckoning came today. I was called to do the presentation myself.

I stepped out, beaming with smiles while my team members cheered me on. Deep down, I thought of the outcome of this impromptu speech. Would I be able to deliver at such little time with no rehearsal? Would I forget any key point?

Minutes into the presentation...and it was flowing like I had rehearsed a month ago. I used the STAR technique. Started with showing speaking on the current Situation, then discussed the Task, Actions and Result. My team lead was nodding from his seat.

Did my head swell? Did it take the nature of an amoeba?

Then came the questions from the boss and other teams. I patiently answered them all.

Two of my colleagues promised to get me snacks once we get downstairs. One offered me a pack of waffles and the other got me a coconut while trekking to the car park.

I thought of everything that happened this afternoon. It is a testimony of the times I spent developing my skills, both soft and technical. I look forward to speaking some more.

How would I achieve this?
It's simple.

Every little bit of effort we make draws us closer to becoming better. I intend to dedicate at least 30 minutes daily. So help me Jah!
