Hello Everyone,

Sometimes these are the experiences we want to forget or never come back to our lives. However, we can't dodge every illness unless we are in super health condition. Hence, at some point in our lives, we have medical experiences, this is my one.

Severe needle phobia is a common issue for many people, but not for me! Source

Are you afraid of any medical instrument? Ex: syringes, sphygmomanometer, stethoscope, etc. Tell us why.

Breaker.png

Never had that phobia for syringes or any other instruments. They are medical instruments, so I don't fear them. I've seen many feel uncomfortable with syringes though. I've donated blood 03 times because I never had an issue seeing blood or getting injections.

Breaker.png

Are you afraid of any medical specialist? To which? we would like to know why.

Breaker.png

Not to the western medical specialist. Here in Sri Lanka, we have Ayurvedic or traditional medicine doctors who are famous for fracture treatment. They are the best in what they do. I know this because I have an experience with it.

How they examine this fractured bone is what scary. Of course, they use x-rays, yet they touch where it is broken and sometime squeeze and give firm pressure to the fractured bone no matter how hard you scream. In the worst scenario, you might pee because it hurt that much 😅. Then they quietly ask "Is it hurting?"

Do you remember any uncomfortable, painful, funny or unpleasant medical experience? Share it with us 🙂

Yes, I do have one uncomfortable experience which happened to my father.

When I was at work I had a call informing me that my father was met with an accident. He was already hospitalized and wanted someone to look after him. The accident was not that serious but his leg wound must fixed with some stitches. Since I wasn't available I set my cousin brother to go immediately to the hospital.

He was hurried to the hospital and later my father called and said they both will come to the home soon. We were waiting at home to welcome the injured father. However, my limping father was helping my cousin to get down of the vehicle. We all were shocked to see the event and went to help both of them.

Latter father explained while he is having the stitches on his leg my cousin collapsed on the other side of the bed. Only to know that he couldn't stand blood and fainted seeing my father's wound 🤐.

We all laughed because the one who went for caretaking had to taken care of.

Did you experience any medical trauma in your childhood? Could you share it with us?

Breaker.png

Nothing that serious. But one time I met with a bike accident when I was 16 years old. I was raiding with my friends and didn't notice the vehicle which came towards me while overtaking. I still don't remember what happened during my accident.

However, while I was having my conscience back, I felt so much hurt in my right shoulder. Couldn't move my hand and I remembered that my exams are coming up soon. I was afraid so much realizing that I couldn't participate in this exam because it is my writing hand. (GCE Ordinary Level exams are a big deal in Sri Lanka for teenagers). Straightaway, I began to think about how much time I have to recover. For some weird reason, I couldn't recall any dates. I was thinking what date it is and no matter how hard I tried I failed. I was freighted to dead that moment.

However, one of my aunts was there to look after me and I asked her for a calendar. While seeing the calendar, all the months and dates gradually everything came to my mind with the exam scheduled dates.

Have you experienced an accident or illness considered serious? What teaching did this experience leave you?

Breaker.png

Apart from the above accident, I had faced two miner bike accidents. However, I'm suffering from diabetes for 03 years which is serious. For a year I didn't know that I had such an issue because I am never fond of sugary items. My weight began to lose and all my relatives noticed this difference and advised me to take medical attention.

Then I had a blood report and my sugar level had gone up to high as 270. (Usually, it should range between 80 - 100 fasting measures) I needed immediate treatment. From that moment to today I was taking pills to control it while having some exercises. I had it controlled between the 120 - 130 range.

Make sure to check your blood sugar level at least every 06 months Source

However, for the past 04 months again I had a busy schedule with Sri Lanka's worst economy where I couldn't keep up with my exercises. Without noticing the limit exceed 200 again. I had to increase the medicine intake to control it again. I feel so bad I'm doing this to myself.

What I learned and would love to share is that no matter how busy you are give attention to your health first. Because no matter how much you earn, at the end of the day if you take pills you are a failure for yourself.

"Health is wealth" there is a true meaning for that.

Take care of yourself.

Thank you.

I would like to invite @harithachamod, @kumikosenpai & @arshani to participate in this contest.

Peace to all 🙏

Excelente post , coincidimos en la fobia a las agujas.... Gracias por invitarme..

Éxitos 🥰

Hello @virajherath it's good that you're a blood donor, that's very valuable. I'm glad you're not afraid of syringes, I don't particularly like them lol.

I hope you can exercise soon and your health is very good.

Many successes in the Challenge.

Have a great day 😀

Thank you @bellana, I've started my exercises again. I hope to get back to where I was soon. Have a wonderful day to you too.. 😀

Hi virajherath.

How funny about the caregiver who had to be taken care of by the one who suffered the accident, good thing your father's life didn't depend on him, you know that for the next one, that person is not a good choice.

I see that you have had more than one accident, it must be very difficult not to remember important things and it speaks very well of you that you have been worried about your recovery for the exams at your school.

Diabetes is a caring condition, but I know it can be kept under control. My grandmother suffered from diabetes all her life and passed away in old age and not from the disease and she did like to eat sweets.

God watch over you always and have a good life.

Best regards.

Yes, not a good choice 😀

Diabetes certainly can control by medicine but I want to get rid of it and come back to a normal life style. I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother, I'm sure she is a strong woman because she had controlled it her entire life.

Thank you for your encouraging words.

It appears that you have experienced a few bicycle accidents. That indicates how careless you are. Please aim the current work you have done. According to Load Buddha ought to be in a "Samma sathi". Then you can avoid such an incident.

If any readers wonder what "Samma sathi" means, that is the "Right mindfulness".

Hi @senehasa, good to see Sri Lankans backing up with some comments. Yes, I had some accidents with my bikes. You are correct about the above described incident, I was not in the correct mindset and carelessly overtake the vehicle in front of me.

However, in all other accidents, I was in "Samma sathi". There were different factors and that's why we call it accidents. While we can cause them, we can be the victim too. Gladly, I was a lucky victim because none of them are serious accidents.

P.S: Bikes are strange vehicles because it is so easy to meet with an accident.

I'm glad to learn that none of them resulted in significant injuries. I just want you to think about how you ride your bike. Even though we ride cautiously, accidents still happen if someone else is riding irresponsibly. Have a good day friend.

Yes now that I've gain experiences, I'm more careful when riding the bike. No more racing and no more careless overtakes. Thank you for your valuable comment. You too have a great weekend!

You are welcome.

Hello, oh my god I would be a little scared to go to those doctors there if I am fractured, I think my screams would be heard all over the place haha.

Hey, you have to take care of yourself, these are not games, activate your exercises, diet, everything in order to maintain those optimal levels.

I told you, they don't care how hard you scream! they won't hear you 😄

Yes, I'm doing everything to get back to the optimal levels now. Thanks @marito74

I've donated blood 03 times because I never had an issue seeing blood or getting injections

This is a very brave and noble act, you look very strong,
I often hear and see on television that sri lanka has traditional medicine which people think is more powerful and i believe that is true,
However, some diseases must be taken seriously and by experts.
I hope you are always healthy👍

Thank you @liasteem. I was able to do that before I got diabetes. Had a dream to donate blood at least for 10 times. I wish I can do that remaining as soon as I'm cured.

Regarding traditional medicine,
Yes, that is true. In fact, western doctors said to go for traditional medicine when there's a fracture. They are that good and because of them my hand is recovered as it was before.

Club Status ❌

This is not correct, but it's okay. I don't care the club status now. What I know I didn't cash out for 10 months now.

Thank you for your review.
