Brown Garden Snail out after a rain

The hot and dry Arizona environment isn't really suited for land snails but given some moisture (such as after a good rain shower) you can often find the Brown Garden Snail (Helix aspera) out and about.

These mollusks are an introduced (and considered an invasive nuisance) species from Eurasia. While they may be useful for escargot in Eurasia here thwt are more often just a garden pest.

This one was content to explore my little yard and since they generally aren't a bother I leave them in peace.
