Thought I Would Give You An Update ..
On the orchids that I had spoke about in an earlier post. The orchid now has three blooms on it and will probably have another three in the next week or so. Right now I count 16 possible flower buds on this one particular orchid.
I Suppose I Have To Include ..
These few photos first. As I was trying to take photographs pepper decided to get curious so I thought this would be a good time to get a glamour shot of him next to the flowers. They came out perfect! I’m so happy that our little boy has taken such an interest in gardening LOL.
Molly did not want anything to do with the flowers and remained 20 to 30 feet away so she would not be logged into any photographs. Smart girl.
The leaves/foliage look very healthy as compared to my other orchid. The leaves lean towards the light as the air roots move away from the light. Here’s a good photo to show you what I’m talking about.
Sometimes these blooms can get heavy so you have to stick them up. Are use some moldable rigid plastic coated wire and miniature hair clips. Hairclips keep the stem upright and supported while not damaging the actual plant material.
Plant material growing towards the light and the air roots which look like light gray wire like material growing to the right away from the light.
The other orchid ..
Has always been a much slower bloomer but the blooms last for a much longer period of time I See approximately eight flower buds on that now but it could be as much as 10. Plant itself looks awful. It’s putting all of its energy into creating this 18 inch long shoot full of flower buds. After it blooms and the blooms die the plant will come back to life. It really needs to be repotted as it has grown out of the pot a bit too far I believe.
I have also clipped this flower stem to two rigid supports using hair clips. The flowers much longer and will become much heavier than the other plant which grows more upright rather than straight out. I may have to tie this up or create another support wire because of the weight and the way the plant is hanging out of the pot.
You can see how the air roots are not as healthy looking either.
The bloom portion of the stem is about the length of my hand but will extend approximately an additional 8 inches by the time it’s fully developed and ready to bloom. Add the 12 to 16 inches of the other part of the stem in this creates a very long, almost a 24 inch long plus section of stem and blooms. I’ll have to keep a very close eye to make sure it doesn’t begin to weep, break, or fall over.
One More Shot ..
I put the orchid against a solid colored service so you could get a better view of what the plant looks like.
Thank you for swinging by my blog and checking out the post. Have a great day!

About Me ~ The Artist
My art work incorporates a wide variety of subject matter, including landscape, seascape, cityscape, and still life images. My works are the product of a continuing process of exploration through which I seek to portray personal and visionary interpretations of my surroundings. My paintings are impressions of places and events from everyday life, an interpretation of my imagination, and personal responses to what I see and feel on a daily basis. More recently I have invested generous amounts of time into my landscape painting. I am surrounded by natural and man made beauty, which inherently presents itself in the tri-state area, and almost demands that I paint it.
Not everything is art. Art is not everything, but it comes close. Art is everywhere and all the time. Art makes you experience the beauty of the world, the people in it, and the places we call home. Art itself is so influential that it can tell stories, show feelings, and express passion or fury. Art exists in addition to language; expression of sensations and thoughts, revealing a way of thinking too subtle and delicate for words.
For me art requires love, honesty and perseverance. In return, it reveals some personal, non-analyzable, and creative untamed passion. For the public, art with its magnificent beauty, improves mood and health and builds better human beings and communities. It engages the intellect, softens the heart, strengthens the soul and frees the spirit.

“Many collectors died in process of searching for new species, and despite persistent reports that the men died from drowning, gunshot and knife wounds, snakebite, trampling by cattle, or blows in the head with blunt instruments, it is generally accepted that in each case the primary cause of death was orchid fever.” ~ Eric Hansen, Orchid Fever: A Horticultural Tale of Love, Lust, and Lunacy

Nice looking Orchid, and looks like Pepper was enjoying the view and the aroma of the flower.

Since he can no longer hear, smell and sight are the two things he relies on most. I smelled the flower after he did but didn’t smell anything. Lol. Thanks for the support!!

Pepper is really a cute and cool dude. Look at how it sat gigantically watching the you as you take the shot in the first image.
Sorry to divert from this; I would love to learn from you how to list artworks and sell online through online platforms like esty. Maybe we could talk more on discord.
Thank you.
