Monday morning,6:20 am and the alarm starts. A new week has started! If we only had some more energy to do at least half of the things we want to do! So many to-do lists and so little time. Everything is going in fast-forward. We rush from the moment we opened our eyes til we go back to sleep at night. Even then, we rush to hit the sack, having tomorrow`s load on our mind.

Our brain endlessly plans things and gives us very little time to process the information and to rest. We keep on going on an alert mode without slowing down, ignoring the signals of tiredness or exhaustion.

We push ourselves even further. We take a second cup of coffee, drink an energy drink, pop some medicine and vitamins and move on with our lists and make it til 4 or 5 pm. We are so busy that we can`t afford to be sick. Time is not on our side when we want to be productive.

We neglect our health and end up stressed, weary, burnt out. We blame it on the society and the daily struggle. We take it on our colleagues, friends or family members. We end up snapping at them and regretting it later on.

The feeling of guilt adds even more to our plate. We feel bad for not accomplishing all of our daily chores, for not having enough time with our family or friends, for not reaching our goals sooner, for not being able to put a smile on the face like others do. We feel pressed to have a career, we get disappointed when we do not get the promotion we deserve. We waste time comparing ourselves with others, imagining that their lives are having a brighter shade of pink than ours.

That cocktail of emotions we are drowning in leads towards depression. The only way out of it is to keep an open mind. Take things slowly, enjoy living in the present and be positive. Positive thinking way more powerful than you think as it reduces the stress. By simply eliminating the negativity, you open yourself to new positive circumstances.

When rush out of the house on your way to work, try to do things differently. Change a bit your routine. Stop to smell the flowers, or allow yourself to observe small little details that you have not noticed before, such the architecture of a building, an old couple walking hand in hand, etc. Anything that moves you.

Acknowledge the beauty that exists around you and you will feel better. There`s something beautiful about every single form of life. Nature paints the most vivid paintings for us. Though most of us are too busy to see them. A simple 5-10 minutes walk can do wonders to your spirit.

Chose to focus on something else than your misery. Unplug your mind from your daily struggle for a few minutes couple of times per day and you will feel a difference.
