Further down the road we are greeted by friendly faces. The horses were also enjoying the warmth of the sun and followed us along the fence edge.

Back at home our yard was full of birds coming in for the seeds in the feeder.
We had a young sapsucker who was becoming a daily visitor.

There were many chickadees and as they settled on the mountain ash tree it made a beautiful design silhouetted with the late day sun.

It was lovely to be out feeling the warmth of the sun and at the end of the day we were treated to a beautiful sunset.

Laika is my son's puppy and Bruno and Laika haven't met yet I'm sure there could be some fantastic shots when they do meet! Bruno just turned 8 years old.

Wow, the earth is still heavily laden with snow, with sun being out a walk with Bruno has been a treat.

Beautiful! Bruno certainly looks like he's full of vim and vigor with that stick. And those horses! Horses are my second favorite animal after dogs. I hope they aren't cold. I imagine they have a stable to stay in overnight. Do you have treats you give them on your walks?

Bruno is full of vim and vinegar! Glad I included your two favorite animals! The horses adpt to the outdoors here and grow thick coats to keep them warm. they are given extra feed but they go into the bush for shelter - no stables. I don't bring treats but in the summer I will pick some of the thick lush grass for them that is on the other side of the fence.
It is a bit of paradise here in the summer! I've come to appreciate the winter wonderlands though!

I just love your pup! I bet he thinks the temps are just perfect, having that heavy coat. I was going to say that the Red-napped Sap Suckers were my favorite part until you hit us with those stunning sunset photos!! I SO WANT to paint a scene from one of those shots :-D

When I first moved up into this area I wanted to capture the beautiful scenes in oil paintings, even got all my supplies but because I lacked the skills and patience to do that I decided it would be better to capture it in photographs!

It really is amazing that the wild bird and animals can handle extreme cold! We had temperatures dipping below -40 degrees Celsius! I make sure there is lots of bird seed in the winter to give them extra energy to survive the winter. The dog comes inside liking to lay by the wood heater and has it pretty good.

Beautiful imagery in your own back yard @porters. I love the snow, as long as it's in someone else's yard far away. That sunset shades of faint pink and purple is changes the outline of the sky and casts a shadow that looks like burning red in the distance. Thank for sharing.
