The versatility and economic potential of cotton can make it an excellent choice for a large scale cultivation.

Cotton is typically takes about 5 to 6 months from planting to the harvest depending on the variety and growing conditions. After planting the cotton seeds can germinate within a week and the plants start to be grow rapidly. All around 60 to 70 days after the planting all the plants begin to flower. These flowers then develop into the cotton bolls which are the protective capsules that can be contain the cotton fibers.
The bolls can be take another 50 to 60 days to the mature and fully open in revealing the cotton fibers inside it . Once the bolls are open the cotton is ready for the harvest. Timing is crucial because the cotton must be picked before a weather conditions such as rain can damage the fibers. Proper care and monitoring during the growing season are the essential to ensure a healthy crop and a successful harvest.
➡️What are the common pest and disease of that plant/crop. Also share how to control it.
Cotton plants are vulnerable to several in common pests and diseases. The most common pests include bollworms or aphids and whiteflies which can damage the cotton bolls and reduce in yield. Common diseases affecting cotton include the cotton wilt caused by the fungus Fusarium and bacterial blight which leads to the leaf spots and boll rot.
To control the pests integrated pest management strategies are too effective. This includes using the resistant cotton varieties or biological controls like introducing beneficial insects and to applying appropriate insecticides when necessary. For diseases or crop rotation, proper field sanitation and using disease resistant varieties can help to prevent outbreaks. Additionally to ensuring a good water management and for avoiding to overcrowding of plants can be reduce the risk of the fungal and bacterial infections.
