What crops are grown in your region?

Different crops such as Maize, rice, cassava, groundnuts, yam including some fruits and vegetables such as cucumber, watermelon, pumpkin and many more are grown in my region which is the eastern part of Nigeria.
Most regions and countries are blessed with different crops that are well grown and cultivated there due to favourable weather and climate condition, soil fertility, demand of produce, the labour and level of technology that exist in the particular area and also growing of crops depends on some geographical conditions.

What was the average yield and market price of this crop?

Different crops usually have different average yields which means the harvested production per unit of harvested area for crop products, meanwhile the market price is how much the products is been sold and bought in the market.
Yam usually takes the period of 8 to 10 months to be harvested and the market price is usually base on the size of yam and location you bought it as well, e.g buying yam in the rural area is always cheaper and better than the ones in urban area.
In my area 5 tubers of yam is sold for 10,000 naira which is equivalent 37.6 in steem price.
As for cassava it is used to process garri and people use the root as a food and to make medicine but there is no good scientific evidence to support these uses, garri is sold at the cost price in 50kg sack bag of 30,000 naira equivalent 113 steem.

How much did it cost to cultivate till harvest and what was the total profit from this crop?

The cost of cultivating this crops and harvesting it as well depends on the system of farming which may be either subsistence or commercial farming, so if you choose commercial farming the cost and the profit from this crop will be more than that of subsistence farming, and again most times the cost and profit is very difficult and complicated to calculate because labour and other factors of production affect it.

What do you prefer for the new farmers? Give your own opinion.

As a new farmers who is new in the business i will suggest you start with subsistence farming first before proceeding to commercial farming and as well try to meet up and gain more understanding from the old farmer's who have been in the business for long time, all this is to avoid mistakes that most people make and later regret the action they took.

Conclusion.
Agriculture and farming has always been a good and benefiting profession right from the days of our forefathers till date such that it has always contributed and gives us the chances and opportunity of earning a living and also providing food in large quantity for our homes as well as the world and making it a happier place to live, that's to say agriculture plays a vital roles when it comes to support and growth of our different nations.
