Tipsters talking to 9to5Mac say that Apple is focusing on the ability of its wristwear to measure blood oxygen levels. If the oxygen saturation of your blood falls below a certain level, you will receive a notification just like you do at high heart rates now. Whether this will involve new hardware or software upgrades is not certain, but our money is on the former as Fitbit's solution uses a combination of red and infrarot sensors to detect variations in oxygen.
