I am here to participate in this amazing contest hosted by @ruthjoe in the Steem-Agro community. Agriculture is the kind of investment that enable farmers to generate more income in supporting there family.

Tomato's name comes from the Spanish word tomate. Tomatoes are edible plants which are classified as vegetables. Many people use this fruit to cook different stews in their various homes. The aroma is amazing; in fact, it is one of the major things that bring sweetness to the food we cook. They are usually red, which indicates that such tomatoes are ripe, although unripe ones are usually half green in color. That is, half green and yellow will appear on the other side too.

Some farmers plant this type of vegetable for commercial purposes, while others plant this edible fruit in their backyards for their own use only. Tomatoes are grown worldwide and are the main ingredient in pizza and other dishes too. They can also be preserved by freezing, canning, and so on.

Benefits of Tomatoes:

• It helps reduce the risk of heart diseases as well as promoting our skin health.

• It prevents cancers as the high carotenoid content in tomatoes can help protect women against breast cancer.

• Tomato intake also helps us control blood pressure, lowering the risk of early death.

• Tomatoes contain a high amount of lycopene, which helps us protect our eyes from major eye problems, e.g. cataracts.

• Tomatoes also improve our brain health to function on a normal level. This shows that people between the age of 65, who usually eat tomatoes, can have better cognitive function.

Fresh tomatoes play an important role in improving our health. We must wash the tomatoes before consuming them to protect ourselves from harmful bacteria. Tomatoes need to be stored in a cool area in order to prolong their shelf life.
