Explain the difference between agriculture and farming.

Differences between agriculture and farming

Agriculture can be defined as the cultivation of crops and raising of animals which has to do with production and harvesting. While farming can be seen as the process of using land for agricultural activities like rearing cattel and cultivation.

Agriculture is completely about production of raw material and crops, development and research. While farming has to do with the implementation of agriculture activities on a land.

Farming is the final word which comprehend the meaning of agriculture while agriculture talks about the procedures and the manners the farming process is done.

• What are the 5 major problems faced by farmers?

There are really lot of problems which farmers face due to a certain reasons which are;

1. Lack of funds: Farmers are the ones who cultivate what the rich and the poor consumes daily, without the cash to help them get chemicals and fertilizers to boast they production the act of farming will not go well.

2. Soil erosion: Erosion is the process by which the topmost layer of the soil is been washed off by either water of wind e.g gully erosion, splash erosion, water etc. These really affects farmers because this act also washes the nutrients in the soil to a separate destination.

3. Illiteracy: illiteracy as we all know is been seen as a disease because it makes you look useless and irrelevant among your equals. Same thing applicable to farming a farmer who did not attend at least high school will not be familiar with some local and modernized tools for farming, they will also lack the knowledge about fertilizer application in their farms. They even hardly identify the diseases of crops which the cultivate.

4. Crop diseases: a lot of crops have their specific diseases which attack them and make them to be unhealthy and grow slow. Some animals also caused diseases to crop e.g bigs. These diseases are even likely to killed the crops if not treated. Here are some diseases which affect our crops

• cassava mosaic affects cassava tubber.

• bean mosaic virus affects beans.

• black pod disease affects cocoa.

1. Climate change: changes in both temperature and weather is one of the things which affect farmers which practicing agriculture. Mazie as we know don't need a place where they is too much sun light and no rain, if the weather too hot and changes to become unfavourable for planting mazie no Mazie will be cultivated in such a place.

Weather events like floods, drought and volcanic eruption are events which doesn't favour the cultivation of any crop, climate change is one of the top problems faced by farmers.

• Mention some agricultural technologies you know?

Technology is currently all over the world, and has made agriculture/farming more easier and faster. Here some agricultural technologies I know.

1. Drones: drones are usually used to keep an eye the day to day happens in the farm land to avoid loss and unhealthy crops and bad harvest.

2. Vehicles: vehicles are really important in agriculture because they get the produced crops to it's final consumer which is the main purpose of farming to sustain man's life.

3. Computers: these has also helped in making agriculture good through it's help of making farming being able to comprehend the daily report they get from their in group data for proper farming operations.

1. Smartphone: our smartphone can also be of help in agriculture because farmers can call they workers even through video call to know and quickly believe the activities happening in the farm.

2. GPS or automation: farmers can make use of auto-steering implements to accurately cultivate their land, this will also aid the monitoring of farming activities and make dairy data collection easier.

Agriculture has a lot of importance in the life man and animals which are;

1. Some herbs which are cultivated can be used for medical purpose in other to cure some certain illness which affects man.

2. Agriculture can also assist us in our daily lives by providing habitat, creating job opportunities and the provision of raw materials for industries and build materials to boast the world economic stability.

3. A lot crops which are cultivated are of great nutritional value which helps to keep man healthy at all time. Eating proteinous food like fish, egg, meat and milk helps to provide man with energy to do work.

1. When wild animals find out that humans are planting crops in a particular area they evacuate such place for fear of being killed.

2. Crude oil is one of the valuable agricultural products which is used to power most of our vehicles and others means of transportation. It is been processed to fuel and diesel etc.
