Hello friends! Am happy to be in this community.
I want to share with us my knowledge of agricultural products. I will be talking about Chicken, an important agricultural product that is raised mostly for meat production and has been consumed all over the world. It is a source of protein, vitamins and minerals.

I will be sharing my knowledge on how it's packaged and preserved and also Showing you some practicals done with my student in school for a better understanding

Preparation and package of chicken

Today, I will be sharing my work with my students in the food processing laboratory; I taught my students how chicken is prepared and packaged for storage. We started with the purchase of a life chicken for the teaching.

Equipment for the processing are:-

Knife
Big and small Pot
Cooking gas

We started with the purchase of a life chicken, and The process began by killing the chicken. This is done by holding it at the two legs and raising it up, and it was done that way so the blood would rest on the head.

We caught the chicken and placed it in the cone on a drainage line inside the laboratory, the belly faced the side, and one of my legs where on the bird's legs and hand, so I grasped the head and used a sharp knife to cut the jaw.l hold the head till the blood drained and it stops moving.

Because we were going to scald, we began to heat the water; the heat of the water was 150 degrees, which would help the feathers to release and be removed easily.

Immediately, l dunked the chicken inside the boiled water, and l used a knife to turn it around; within 3 minutes, I started removing the feathers. At that time it was easy to remove because of the application of hot water.

Then we used clean water to clean the chicken, and we started cutting. That is Evisceration. Firstly we cut the head, followed by the legs, and we removed the intestines by opening them from the two sides of the laps. Then we brought out the reproductive organ and the liver. We cut off insomnia that is green in colour.

Package and chilling
Finally, We used the school's customised nylon bag to pack in the sliced chicken parts, tied it very well and put it in the freezer. With this, your chicken can be preserved for a long period.

I hope you will give a try to this process of packaging and preservation.
