SEVEN RULES FOR YOUR POULTRY FARM TO PERFORM WELL
Do you have passion for poultry and really wish to stay long in the business ?then, obey these rules.
A. Rule 1
You will find out that you will make more profit than stocking up 500 and struggling to feed them, which they will not grow to expectations because of insufficient feed for them to grow fast with poor medication.
B. Rule 2
"Never borrow money to start up poultry business unless you are an expert".
No one is an expert when it comes to poultry business because we learn everyday ,every stock you take in gives you different lesson which you have to study
C. Rule 3
"Be vigilant "
The little things you don't take as important really matters a lot as such if you want to be successful in poultry business then you must as a matter of fact take everything serious as sole proprietor or partners in the business
Don't just open your pen and start giving your birds feed and water and then you rush out, be observant by studying and checking what is not appropriate around your birds.
D. Rule 4
"Never ignore warning signals "
Yes I use the word warning signals
1.bad smell
2.withdrawal from feed
3.moodiness
4.withdrawal from water etc.
There are lots of signals which one most not overlook in the pen, which may cause alot of harm in the future if ignored.
A farmer must study and know how his birds behaves when they see him enter the farm in the morning , how they behave when he serves them feed, observing the active ones and the gentle ones.
If you follow this you will know when things are not going well.
E. Rule 5
"Never change feed indiscriminately"
This is another thing that makes people fall out of track, mostly the novice, which a person encounters lost .
Some farmers claim that the change feed from bad to good, but while changing this, one must be extremely careful .
Do you know that every change in feed affect the birds negatively first before gradually bringing in the results you desire ,most a time you may suffer withdrawal, coccidiosis, feed wastage, stress and more .
You may say that the content is the same but firstly consider the formation process of the feed
Because it varies and so is the digestion process.
I'm not talking about changing from starter to finisher, but talking about changing from one commercial feed to another ,
Because the ingredients might not be the same.
F. Rule 6
"Never let your birds run out of water"
Have you heard of heat stress?
If it has happen to your birds before you will know what I'm actually saying .
Heat can wipe away all your birds in a day and it may leave your birds vulnerable to all kinds of infection as their immune system gets weakened and may take more than 13 days to recover .
Birds can survive 48 hours without feed but can't survive 7 hours without water , so I prefer you run out of feed but not out of water.
G. Rule 7
"If you can't drink that water then don't give it to your birds"
Some farmers don't value their birds when it gets to water supply, they feel that it's just giving of water not minding if there's precaution or negative outcome from the water forgetting that they are dealing with a sensitive and delicate live animals.
Waterborne diseases are some deadliest disease
And most difficult to control.imagine small drop of substance into the water, the whole becomes contaminated which will lead to different forms of disease.
Let's be wise and handle our farm neatly and with care, not doing it carelessly to avoid lost.
