I will talk about our national flower today.
Shapla is a familiar and beautiful flower. It is the national flower of Bangladesh. Every country in the world has some symbol. Such as- national flag, national flower, national fruit, national animal, national bird etc. Similarly, Shapla is the national flower of our Bangladesh. That is why water lily is our national flower. Apart from that, Shaplai is the only flower which is not seen in any other country in the world like our country.

Shapla is a herbaceous plant. It is also called aquatic plant because it grows in water. Its roots are in the bottom of the pond - in the mud. As the water level in the reservoir increases, so does its stem. Its leaves are round and large. The smooth leaves of the plate are floating on the water. Many leaves grow on each tree. The tube comes out from the base of the tree under the water and as it grows, it floats on the water for a while. Shapla in bud condition looks a lot like a banana peel. At first this bud blooms slowly and in a couple of days it blooms completely. The colors of water lilies are different. Some are white, some are red and some are purple. However, the white flower has been recognized as the national symbol of our country.

Shapla flowers produce large fruits like potatoes. We call it "Bhat". The people of the village make khai and moya from this bhat. Shapla usually blooms in the rainy season. During the monsoon season, when the fields-ghats, rivers-canals, canals-beels, ponds-dighis, etc. of Bangladesh are filled with water, the water lilies bloom in all directions. When the water lilies bloom in the wide pond all around, an amazing scene begins. Many people eat shuffler stalks as curry. The children of rural Bengal make garlands of water lilies. Many foreign tourists have been fascinated by the shape of the water lily. Shapla grows without care and without any effort and continues to enhance the beauty of Bangladesh. So consider Shapla as the national flower.
