Mango trees occupy an important place in our national economy. Mango trees are evergreen trees. This tree is quite large. The full grown mango tree takes the shape of an umbrella and can grow up to twenty meters long and thirty meters wide. Its stems are thick, bulging and covered with gray bark. The leaves of mango tree are light green when young and dark green when mature. The buds of the mango tree are small. The flowers hang in clusters like vines. The color of the flower is yellowish white. In the month of Chaitra-Baishakh, when the mango blossoms, it fills the surroundings with a sweet smell. The wood of mango tree is very hard. Various furniture etc. of the house are made with wood. The Hindu community uses mango pallab and sandalwood in cremation as well as mango wood in their worship.

Mango is a summer juicy fruit. However, there are different species of mango trees that are now invented that grow in almost all seasons of the year. Mango is usually available from the month of Baishakh-Jyastha. Ripe mangoes are soft and juicy. Raw mango is slightly hard and tastes sour. Most of the ripe mangoes have a sweet taste, while some sour mangoes are also available. Mangoes come in different shapes. Oval, round, tall etc. mangoes are available. Mangoes can be with or without ash. Raw mangoes are common green in color. When mango ripens, it turns greenish yellow, yellow, orange, red etc. Again many mangoes can be seen mixing different colors. Even ripe mangoes can be green.

Different species of mango are found in Bangladesh. Such as: Fazli, Langra, Khirsa, Himsagar, Amrapali, Gopalbhog, Mohanbhog etc. Mango trees are found in almost all parts of Bangladesh. However, Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj and Dinajpur have a good reputation.
