Bengal has been an agricultural region since ancient times. The soil of Bengal, washed away by the Padma, Jamuna and Meghna, was the most fertile in India. And this is exactly the reason why gold was grown in the soil of this country. But the communication system was very fragile in this riverine country which was spread like a net. The waterway-centric communication system was largely ineffective during the dry season. Moreover, the boats used by the native sailors were very small in size and slow moving. These boats were unfit for transporting goods and cargo produced in the hinterland.
Thanks 👍
