For those who do not know the concept of Black Friday, it is something simple, every last Friday of the month of November stores and malls make discounts, sales and amazing promotions that are usually only available that day of the year.

Although the custom started in the United States, over time it spread to other countries and finally to the Internet, but that's Cyber Monday, which I may talk about later.

What do I mean by amazing deals? Well, electronic equipment with discounts ranging from 50% to 90% and these discounts apply to all kinds of merchandise. Clothes, shoes, computer equipment, tools, etc.

But to me this "event" so to speak left me with a lot of questions at the time. How can stores give these discounts? What is the history or origin of this? Is it really remunerative? Why do people literally kill themselves to buy some products?

HOW CAN STORES DO THIS?

Well, stores can do this because many times it is merchandise that has been stagnant and by selling it at a lower price and all at once I think they pay less taxes, plus they make more profit on that single day than on the previous days of the year.

HISTORY AND ORIGIN

As for the origin or history about this there is a lot of smoke, by this I mean that so many stories and theories have been created that no one knows for sure what is the true origin of the name.
For a very long time there was a rumor that Black Friday originated in the slavery era, where the slavers seeing the approaching winter and that getting food for so many slaves was going to be difficult sold their black slaves and had to sell them cheaper because obtaining food was going to be just as difficult for the buyer.

From what I read this is false and it seems logical to me that it is, since as it transforms the buying and selling of slaves to what Black Friday is today. Another origin that seems much more accurate to me is that in 1960 retail business owners wanted to increase their profits, because they had spent so much to celebrate Thanksgiving, the customers they were looking to sell to had also spent a lot of money on their own Thanksgiving dinners, so raising costs was not a good idea, quite the opposite, so they decided to reduce prices as much as they could so people could buy and they would make a profit.

Why is it called Black Friday?

Well, Friday is pretty clear, but it is said that the name Black Friday was popularized in 1961 when the newspapers made the announcement of the sales and the pictures look almost completely black because of the crowds.
It is also said to be due to the fact that on that day stores go from being in the red to being in the black, which means they go from making a loss to making a profit.

IS THIS REMUNERATIVE?

Well obviously it is, I still don't understand very well how it works but hey, if it was not remunerative this "holiday" would have been kept for about 60 years and much less other countries would have adopted it.

I personally hope to be able to take advantage of this Black Friday that is approaching and buy as much as I can, plus it will be an activity with the whole family, so maybe that will bring us together a little more.
