Hi there , today I decided to share gorgeous song)
To be honest, I can include a whole genre in the "favorites" section. These are folk songs from Eastern Europe. Mostly Ukraine and Russia. But even among the huge variety of these songs, I single out one called "Along the Carpathian Mountains".
I recommend listening to this song performed by the "VEK" YouTube channel. They best captured the spirit of the song.
The song was composed by the Orenburg Cossacks during the First World War and tells about the battles on the Carpathian passes, where as long as they had to fight chest-deep in the snow.
The Cossack, in just a few lines, manages to remember both the beloved and the enemy and about God.
Full Text:
Severe frosts crackle in winter
The accursed German is advancing on us
To our state, to the golden cross
And my dear black, black, black-browed
He fights with the Germans for his faith
The Germans wanted our Cossacks
Would go to serve their throne
And our Cossacks, glorious swordsmen,
We did not go to serve their throne
Trumpets, trumpets, drums played
The doors opened, the bastard came out
The battle is in full swing, the battle is merciless
Hot blood poured like a river
The Cossack asks God, tearfully begs
So that our heads in the mound do not fold
On this mound, funny birds
Have fun playing for your faith!
