hello friends welcome to my blog, in my post today I’ll be writing about plant kingdom. It’s known that plants belong to some kingdom in this post today will we known those kingdom.
The plant kingdom it’s divided into five groups which are
- pteridophyta
- bryophyta
- thallophyta
- angiosperm and
- gymnosperm
Plant is divided base on the following vascular system, plant body, and lastly how seed are formed. Let look at the 5 groups of plant .
Pteridophyta:
the plant under this group have a well defined body structure with stem, leaves and roots. Their transportation system is good because since they are terrestrial organism they need well developed transportation system to help them in supplying of food, water, and nutrient.
Among all the plants they are the one that first had xylem and phloem these two help in supplying water and food xylem supply water while phloem help in translocation of food. This type of plants are very important because because because they hold the soil together to prevent erosion.
They live in a cool, damps, and shady places. The pteridophyta have sometimes small and large leaves, also multicellular and photosynthetic means they manufacture their own food. Example of pteridophyta is pteris, adiumtum etc..

bryophyta:
this group is known as plant amphibians because they can live on both land and in water, means they depend on water for sexual reproduction. This group of plant does not have a true root, stem and leaves their root is like rhizoid.
Also they lack vascular system, organisms of this group release their egg in water and them they fuse to reproduce. Bryophytes are mainly three type which are mosses, liverworth, and hornworth.
USES OF BRYOPHYTES
for food as herbaceous mammals and birds feed on them, mosses is use as fuel and they prevent soil erosion too. This mosses thay grow on wall of old buildings too.

Thallophyta:
thallophytas are known as algae because they do not have well defined body structure their is no root, stem and leaves. Most of them are aquatic and also are autotrophic (means they are primary producer as they can produce their own food) that is why they have chlorophyll. They lack vascular system they are motile so they give rise to new plant.
The thallophyta loves moist environment they produce in three ways which are sexual, assexual, and vegetative method. The process in vegetative is through fragmentation each fragment grows into thallus them the assexual production is by spores and zoospores.
Algae are divided into 3 which are the chlorophyceae (green algae), phaeophy (brown algae) and rhodophyceae (red algae)
Angiosperm:
The angiosperm are the largest group of plant as they cover about 80% of the plant population on earth. They are the most common plant that is because you can find them on various habitat. They are the group known as flowering plant and they are the only group of plant that has flower. Also, they have the ability to bear fruit.
Angiosperm is divided into two which are the mono cotyledon and diecotyledon. The mono have one seed leaves like the cereals are perfect example also grasses, banana, pineapple etc. while the diecotyledon have two seed leaves while growing like the legumes( beans), sunflower, tomatoes, etc..
Gymnosperm:
Gymnosperm are also seed producing plant but no fruits because their ovule are not enclosed inside the ovary wall. The gymnosperm are mostly found in colder areas, they have needle like leave in structure and thay have the ability to live for years. Their vascular system is developed to help in transporting food and water.
Gymnosperm is divided into 4 groups which are cycadophyta, ginkgophyta, gnetophyta, and coniferophyta.
In conclusion
Plant is vital in our lives and environment as they can serve as food and medicine for man, and animals. Thank you for reading through and I believe you got knowledge about plant kingdom.
