Nigeria is the gaint of Africa that is situated in West Africa. Nigeria is full with rich culture, history, natural resources and beautiful symbols. Nigerians has so many believe in it national symbol by paying homage to it at every 6am and 6pm. Although each of the symbols in Nigeria has it own meaning of which I will talk about. Now let's get straight to that.

The National Anthem of Nigeria

The National anthem is known as one of the fundamental national symbols as it song give the history of the country. Their is a respect to the national anthem when ever the song is played as a sign of respect to the country. Mostly in Primary/Secondary schools the song must be sung before their can go to they various class. The song is being sung before the commencement of any official meeting.

This is how the National Anthem is recite;
Arise O' Compatriots,
Nigeria's call obey
To serve our fatherland.
With love and strength and faith
The labour of our heroes' past
Shall never be in vain
To serve with heart and might
One nation bound in freedom, peace and unity
The second verse is usually called the national prayer.

Oh God of Creation
Direct our noble cause
Guide our leaders right
Help our youth the truth to know
In love and honesty to grow
And living just and true
Great lofty heights attain
To build a nation where peace and justice shall reign.

The National Pledge

Prof. (Mrs.) Felicia Adebola Adedoyin in 1976 composed the Nigeria Nation Pledge. And till date is what we are singing in Nigeria which is compulsory for every primary/secondary schools to recite on the assembly ground every morning before going to their various Classes. Look at how it's recite below;

I pledge to Nigeria my country
To be faithful loyal and honesty
And to serve Nigeria with all my strength
To defend her unity and uphold her honour and glory
So help me God

Nigeria Shield

In Nigeria Shield they are: The black shield and the colourful wreath over the shield represents the Nigerian fertile and rich soil.
The two supporting white horses represent the dignity of the Nigerian culture.
The red eagle on top of the colourful wreath stands for strength of the Nigerian nation.
The white “Y” wavy shape stands for River Niger and Benue.
The red flower below the black shield represents the national flower known as Costus Spectabilis, also called the Yellow Trumpet. The national flower represents the beauty of Nigeria.
“Unity and faith, peace and Progress” line written below the black shield on the coat of arms represents the Nigerian national motto. The motto is called Peace and Unity simply means Nigerians are one.

Nigeria National Flag

The Nigerian national flag is the number one amongst other national symbols. It means authority both within and outside Nigeria.
When ever the flag is being raise, all citizens are to stand and face the flag for some minutes as a sign of respect to Nigeria and our fallen heroes.The flag is made of green white, green.

The green color stands for:
The Nigerian rich natural resources and The wealth of Nigeria Nation
The white stands for: Peace and Unity

Costus Spectabilis, also known as the yellow trumpet, the Nigeria National flower. The national flower represents the beauty of the Nigerian. The flowers is the most common in the country that can be seen anywhere.

Sport in Nigeria

Nigerians get involved in sports activities just like other nations does. The sport activities that is carried out at mainly Football, Basketball, and Local Wrestling/Bossing.
