I took this photo at the entrance to the Cienfuegos Bay, Cuba, at the base of Jagua Fortress (Castillo de Jagua). To get there I had to take a ferry, the objective was to visit the fortress but I arrived just after closing time. On my way to the structure, a woman approached me after she saw that I was not from the area, and offered me to visit her gastronomic business that was right on the shore of the bay. As I could not enter the fortress and I was hungry, I decided to pay the lady a visit. I found her place after going through a maze of corridors.
The photo was taken sitting on the dock of the house while waiting for a succulent plate of lobsters. The boys bathed (yes, there were two, look for the other one in the photo) in the bay which waters were pristine, apparently, there is not much traffic and maybe that is why the waters remain that way. There are some very good places on the west side of the bay such as Playa Rancho Luna, Playa Arimao, and Cienfuegos Dolphinarium. These are tourist places but I prefer to get involved in common people activities than to go to places crowded by tourists.
I was late to catch the ferry back to the other shore, fortunately, the business had a rowboat service, so after finishing my meal a row-man was waiting for me to get me to the other side for only 2 USD.
At dusk I took this picture from the rowboat that was taking me back. The building on the left is the one that appears in the background of the main photography. (photo by: author)
Normally I am very brief when writing in my posts but the blogs of @datych have served me as an inspiration to add more detail to my stories.
Nice photos and story. I am in search of a perfect format too but I think a story (not too long, not too short) below a photo is a must. We can find beautiful images on google any moment so, alone, photos are worth not much.
We can share useful experience or emotions, or inspire other people to travel through the life ...
Like now, after reading your story, I started thinking "I live in a place that is a dream destination for many people as Cuba is for me... My life is a novel that many would be interested to read. So I must re-discover beauty of my city and my life in this way and share on Steemit".
How to do it? This is a question.... But worth trying.

I agree with you, a story is a must when I publish a photo, it adds context and a personal touch to the image, sometimes you need to add a thousand words (ok, fewer will do) to say a little more.
The circumstances have forced me to travel inside the island to visit new places, politics between the Cuban and U.S. governments have taken a great toll on the island's inhabitants to the extent that traveling abroad is a dream for most of us.
On the flip side, Cuba is unique in its nature and history, and there are a lot of places from the colony that are simply breathtaking. I hope someday you could visit this island frozen in time, as well as I could visit your country and the places you have visited.

Cuba is known to be amazing as well as St. Petersburg (where I live) is. But sometimes we need a fresher environment. Actually, I travelled much and now, due to covid restrictions and a covid-related drop of my income, I learn how to enjoy the same place for a long while. This is a very valuable lesson ... But I miss traveling and hope to resume it sooner than later. If once I am in Cuba, I am a happy person.
I wish you the same. Traveling (to Russia and other places) and good opportunities for photography in your country and abroad.
Let's hope the blockchain and crypto will help both of us. :)
