Friday, March 19, 2021: Progress, I Guess...

in hive-120078 •  4 years ago

Nate's super duper tired, so this one is gonna be short and sweet and unembellished. Today I worked real hard and accomplished a lot less than I wanted. Turns out all of my county is out of untreated cedar fence pickets, so we had to go to two stores an hour away for materials.

After work this morning, I got on and ordered materials on purse.io with crypto earned through blogging! I ordered pig waterer nipples and a feed trough for them, as well as some bolts I've been needing and hose splitter so we can get to work on automated watering for more than just the rabbits. Things are really getting streamlined this year.

On my journey to discover my hyperlocal lumber shortage, I picked up vodka because it's tincturing season. This won't be enough I hope, but it's all I could afford today. For now I just got the 100 proof, so I won't be starting my new batch of turkeytails yet. I'll get everclear next time. I think I'll be harvesting pine pollen next week, and I just found out about nettle root as another testosterone aid. Testosterone support, while generally touted for "male performance," is really helpful to your body when dealing with oxidative stress and the resulting burnout. It's also helpful for energy and weight loss. Lots of benefits, and not just for men. I'm not sure yet how to prepare it, so I'll be looking into that, and I'll be ready if tincturing is appropriate.

Another medicine I'm hoping to work with this medicine season is blackberry roots. I have an overabundance of wild blackberries from those few plants I introduced a season or two ago. I can remember when, as all my seasons here are already starting to run together.

Twenty feet (~7m) of new fence

It seems 300 words is all I can muster today. I'm beat, so I'm going to turn in.

Love from Texas

I'd like to see the turkey tail tincture post.

Try a decoction of comfrey, and add the everclear to make a 100 proof tincture. It aids the body in healing.

Comfrey is best prepared as an infusion if you're going to use it internally.

Put one ounce of dried herb in a quart jar, then fill plum full with boiling water. Leave overnight and drink in the morning. I like it with honey.

I make my infusion from the dried leaves as simple hot tea. I add mint, and one normal tea bag; and I drink that hot every day. The overnight infusion likely is better at extracting the good from the dried leaves.

The decoction I do is from the roots, and is used externally . It has to cook a week or two to get the allantoin out of the comfrey. It ends up as a thick dark liquid that is easy to tincture by adding everclear.

Stay healthy and blessed!

I want to do some projects like that if only I am able Nate :)
Just simple planting of a few vegetables like Okra and Eggplant and bitter gourd vine.

If you're planning food, you're doing awesome things!

Eleuthero? Never heard of that one!

I've heard of glycerin tincturing, but never done it, just because vodka is so easy and cost effective to come by. What's the glycerin process like?
