We Carried a Stupid Gnome Through One of Left 4 Dead 2's Hardest Levels

Most probably know of the infamous Gnome that lays await in one of Left 4 Dead 2's levels; it's a little Easter Egg that [once] developer Valve hid away in one of their Half Life games, and again in Left 4 Dead 2.

The Gnome can be found and obtained during a carnival area of the map, in which the player(s) must shoot at targets and earn a score of 750 before the timer ends. If you achieve such a score, well, I'm sorry, but you have to carry the annoying little shit until the very end of the level, rendering you nearly useless.

I should clarify that you don't have to carry the stupid Gnome to the very end of the level, but, well, we don't know any better and clearly enjoy emotional pain and suffering.

Attempting to stealthy avoid the game's biggest threats: witches and tanks, would run hopelessly around the hordes of zombies with the gnome as I would try my best to protect her and our newly-found friend of Garden descent.

There were so many times in which I would completely screw up, alerting the witch and shooting her directly in the face without realising what exactly it was that I just angered; throwing a molotov in the direction of a tank and completely missing, ultimately leading to our demise; I even assumed I had a chance at defending us against several hordes of zombies that we were actually supposed to charge into with all our might (and luck).

We finally made it past that endless wave of zombies after at least a hundred six tries and onto the final part of the level: making enough noise for the helicopter to notice us and rid us from the hell we had been facing for two full hours; although that meant a final stand-off against the hordes and tanks.

Luckily, that wasn't too difficult. We were well-equipped and ready to just end the level (or eventually ourselves in defeat).

Well, we did it in the end. And, all we got was this stupid achievement with the Gnome's smug face on it. We carried a Gnome through one of Left 4 Dead 2's hardest levels for some pixels on our Steam profiles.
