I want to share my personal experience with Root Canal Therapy (RCT) and Tooth Extraction in Nigeria.
It all started on Thursday, April 1st, 2021. All of a sudden i felt a strong tooth pain. My canine was so painful that I couldn't bare it. I took a pain killer and an antibiotics (Paracetamol and Amoxicillin). The pain subsidized, however, I went to bed and woke up with a swollen face on Friday, 2, 2021 (Good Friday).

The pain was unbearable that I had to dash to a dental clinic.
After diagnosis, I was billed for an RCT and a tooth extraction for one of my canine and premolars respectively.

The RCT cost 30,000 NGN (75USD) and the Etraction cost 9,000 NGN (22 USD).
According to dentalassociates.com, "Root Canal Therapy is an effective and safe way to clean an infection in an abscessed tooth and its roots."
Before the procedure started, I was administered an anesthetic in my gum and the RCT was done before the extraction.
I felt no pain during the process due to the anesthetic, but the pressure applied in pulling the tooth was felt.

Some tools which look like pins were inserted into the root canal of my tooth and were used to clean the passage.

During the procedure, I found out that my premolar has 3 roots as against the usual 2 or 1 every other person has.
