Hey, que tal amigos de steemit, mi nombre es Jesús Santana, soy de Venezuela, hoy vengo a mostrarles mi trabajo por primera vez de lo que fue la realización de una empuñadura tradicional de madera para un cuchillo carnicero.
Hey, how are you friends of steemit, my name is Jesús Santana, I'm from Venezuela, today I come to show you my work for the first time of what was the realization of a traditional wooden handle for a butcher knife.

Llegué a la conclusión de escribir de ello ya que un día súper normal me dediqué a ensamblar el mango del cuchillo, normalmente siempre veo las veces que puedo un programa de televisión llamado Desafio sobre fuego y me decidí inciar está faena para su realización; les cuento que fue muy interesante.
I came to the conclusion of writing about it because one super normal day I dedicated myself to assembling the handle of the knife, normally I always see the times I can a television program called Forged un fire I decided to start this task for its realization; I tell you that it was very interesting.

paso 1

Para empezar, tomé un cuchillo que solo tenía la estructura como tal del mismo e inicié con la pulidora a remover las particulas de óxido que se encontraban en la hoja y su nivelación como tal. Quiero aclarar que este punto del procedimiento no tomé fotos porque aún no sabía nada de steemit.

To begin, I took a knife that only had the structure as such and started with the polisher to remove the oxide particles that were on the blade and its leveling as such. I want to clarify that this point of the procedure I did not take photos because I still did not know anything about steemit.

paso 2

Luego de que la herramienta estaba perfectamente pulida, procedo a medir las dos partes de madera que iba a colocar y cortarlas a la medida exacta de la empuñadura de hierro que tiene el cuchillo original.

After the tool was perfectly polished, I proceed to measure the two wooden parts that I was going to place and cut them to the exact size of the iron handle that the original knife has.

Una vez medidas y prensada las tablas que van en el lugar, tomo el taladro y agujero las tablas de manera que estén perfectamente alineadas, le coloco los clavos para fijar la posición y me dirijo a la mesa donde estaba trabajando.

Once the boards that are in place are measured and pressed, I take the drill and hole the boards so that they are perfectly aligned, I place the nails to fix the position and I go to the table where I was working

Para que la empuñadura tome más firmeza le unté un poco de barniz también se puede usar cuálquier pegamento para madera, alinee las tamblas y procedí a remachar los 4 agujeros que se encontraban en el puño del cuchillo.
Dejé secar para una mejor firmeza durante 48 horas y así estar seguro de que el pegamento funcionó bien

Step 4

To make the handle more firm, I spread a little varnish on it, you can also use any wood glue, align the drums and proceeded to rivet the 4 holes that were in the handle of the knife.
Let it dry for a better hold for 48 hours to make sure the glue worked well.

paso 5

Para esta ocasión solo hacía falta sacar de la prensa y proceder con la verificación de la la pega, inicié con la segueta a remover todo el material restante para proceder a pulir y nivelar la chacha con el cuchillo.

For this occasion it was only necessary to remove from the press and proceed with the verification of the glue, I started with the hacksaw to remove all the remaining material to proceed to polish and level the sheet with the knife.

Por último, tome el material para pulir en particulas más pequeñas una lija e inicié frotando el mango con el papel para rebajar y llevarlo al tamaño justo para que se adapte bien a mi mano, una vez terminado volví a untar barniz a la madera para darle resistencia, brillo, durabilidad y sellado, además de que le forjé un tallado con mi inicial para darle un toque de personalidad.

Finally, I took the material to polish in smaller particles a sandpaper and began by rubbing the handle with the paper to reduce and bring it to the right size so that it adapts well to my hand, once finished I put varnish on the wood again to give it resistance, shine, durability and sealing, plus I carved it with my initial to give it a touch of personality.

Para mí experiencia el resultado fue muy satisfactorio, debido a que no soy profesional en la materia fue algo más artesanal y por primera vez, creo que me sentí muy cómodo realizando la empuñadura porque me encanta muchísimo desde siempre lo que es carpintería y herrería, espero algún llegar a una experiencia más completa y profunda.
For my experience the result was very satisfactory, because I am not a professional in the field it was something more handmade and for the first time, I think I felt very comfortable making the handle because I have always loved carpentry and blacksmithing, I hope some reach a more complete and profound experience.
