Why it’s important to have self-respect in life and at work

The problem here isn't poor self-management or personal organisation. It’s the lack to line firm boundaries and stick with clear priorities. It means they're quick to reply to other people’s demands and way too slow to form time for the important activities required to realize business goals.

I consider this not a problem of self-management, but self-respect. A healthy level of self-respect enables you to possess the arrogance to line firm boundaries. It means knowing what you represent and what your values are, and being accepting of both your strengths and weaknesses.

Self-respect is an inner quality that every individual must take time to develop. It comes after experiencing setbacks and failures throughout life and knowing the way to rebuild.

Juggling the stress of a growing family and busy leadership roles can do strange things to people. It’s easy to be tricked into thinking that the thanks to achieve success is to undertake to please everyone. Self-respect is more important than always being seen as a very nice person. Sometimes it means you've got the courage to barter and reschedule a crucial meeting so as to be liberal to attend your child’s school assembly.

What does ‘self-respect’ appear as if in practice?
At work, having self respect means possessing the inner strength and confidence to show off your phone, shut off your emails and shut the door. Or to ask your staff to protect you for 2 hours while you're employed on a crucial project interruption free.

It helps you create and keep appointments with yourself within the midst of a busy day to travel for a walk, take an opportunity , or work on your longer-range plans. Self-respect is what helps you discover how to specialise in the important and not just the urgent matters of the day.

It means facing your fears of being rejected and of not being ok . those that become successful at some point learn to stare these fears down and act with courage to try to to the foremost important things that make their life and business grow strong.
